I can finally share what I've been dedicating myself to for the past year: crafting a @chessable course! This has been a labor of love, and I have put my all into this to truly achieve quality. This course is specifically designed to assist new players in breaking 1000 rating, and I firmly believe this course can contribute to help integrate new adult learners more seamlessly into our community.
You might wonder why I made this course, why I was offered this opportunity, how it's structured, and what it aims to achieve. I believe I've got it all covered with a “Peek Inside” video here, so check that out if you have questions: chessable.com/breaking-1000-…
I want to give a huge shoutout to the incredible #chesspunks community, as I recognise that this opportunity wouldn't have been possible without you. <3
Platforms like @chessable are making a big difference in the chess world, especially for us adult learners. And I think that's pretty cool – more people playing chess means more fun for everyone! 💙

new: Chess Principles Reloaded
@chesscoachandra 's experience has taught him that a universal weakness among chess players is that they don’t always fully grasp some of the basic principles of chess, or tend to neglect them. Check your chess principles!

Played my first tournament for years 😄 7 round blitz, i got 3 wins, 2 draws and 2 losses. Happy with the result because I was so nervous 😅 My performance got impacted by my nerves, but at the end I was able to relax and have fun ☺️ Any tips for nerves? #chesspunks – at Skedsmo, Norge
For the first time ever, the Norwegian Prison Chess Championship will be live streamed! ❤️
I’ve been working to make this happen because I truly believe in the power of chess as a tool for learning, growth, and personal development. The inmates playing today are our neighbours of tomorrow. Giving them opportunities to develop skills, focus, and confidence is something I think matters for all of us.
📅 Date & Time: September 16, 10AM - 1PM CET
📺 Where to watch: twitch.tv/rookieredhead
The tournament features teams from different prisons, playing in a rapid time format, and the two best teams will advance to the World Prison Chess Championship. I’ll be hosting the stream with @DrCanChess - bringing live commentary, insights, and lessons you can take to your own games.
✨ Thanks to our sponsor @GMJacobAagaard @NewInChess , viewers can win amazing chess books just by tuning in!
Join us to watch the games live, enjoy commentary, lessons learned from the games, and support a meaningful social cause. Chess can change lives ❤️ #chesspunks @Sjakkforbundet @Kriminalomsorg1
One of the things my first chess teacher taught me was the importance of having specific guidelines for our thoughts while playing chess. Without these guidelines, the human mind is prone to producing flawed ideas and strategies. Unintentionally, this instruction revealed some insights into my own psychology. I had a tendency to view circumstances pessimistically, dream up worst-case scenarios, and ruminate on them. This is not a good strategy for living your life. Implementing guidelines for my thoughts made my life more managable and positive. #chesspunks – at Ullensaker, Norge
Just met fellow @chessable author @DrCanChess in Oslo for some chess ♟️😄 amazing how this game brings friends together! #chesspunks – at Oslo, Norway

Delivering lots of chess books from @GMJacobAagaard to the prison today 😄 Looking forward to seeing their reaction ❤️❤️ #chesspunks – at Ullensaker, Norge
Are you stuck on a plateau at the intermediate level? You and me both. Life hit hard - I didn’t set aside time for proper training, got lost in speed chess on my phone, dropped some rating, and fell into a rut. I've been stagnating for a year…
But there’s hope! @chessable Author of the Year, cognitive scientist, and chess coach @DrCanChess has kindly agreed to try and cure my chess depression. Once a week in April, you can join in on our lessons at twitch.tv/rookieredhead 🫶🏼 The first lesson is April 1st at 6pm CET.
Get unstuck with me, interact with us, and ask Dr. Can your chess questions. Let’s get back on track together. Hope to see you there! ❤️ #chesspunks – at Trondheim, Norway
Last week, I voulenteered at a Norwegian prison to teach chess to the inmates. I shared my experience on social media, hoping to inspire others to volunteer at the prison. But I had not expected Grandmaster Jacob Aagaard to contact me and generously donate a huge collection of books to the prison library..!
This act of kindness will give many people access to knowledge, growth, and the deep joy of chess... @GMJacobAagaard , @NewInChess , and @QualityChess : Thank you. Your generosity will have a lasting impact. 🥹
Many believe that acts of service should be done quietly, without seeking attention. I understand that view. But I also believe that sharing these experiences can inspire more people to contribute. We live in a time of increasing individualism and division... perhaps now, more than ever, we need to see and celebrate community, kindness, and giving...?
If sharing can encourage more people to step up, to give, to help, to participate, then maybe posting isn’t about performance.. Maybe it’s about connection?
A huge thank you to Jacob - And if you’re reading this and wondering if you should do something for your community: yes. Someone, somewhere, will be grateful that you did. ❤️ #chesspunks
I was invited to Romerrike Prison (Ullersmo Unit) to give a chess lecture for the inmates. Engaging in meaningful activities is such an important part of rehabilitation. They will one day be a neighbor, and I think small efforts really goes a long way to make the journey back to society a little bit easier.
I truly felt that they appreciated the session and visit from outside. The energy in the room was good, and it was a great reminder of how chess is not just a game but also an amazing tool for mental well-being.. 🧠 I hope more people in chess will consider volunteering at Ullersmo and other Norwegian prisons. #chesspunks
I had the honour of guest lecturing in psychology class at California State University, Northridge today! 😄
We explored learning as an adult and discussed chess in the context of their new course, which examines how psychological theories and core findings help us understand games - and how games, in turn, shed light on psychological processes.
The class is diving into fascinating topics like risk perception and decision-making, learning and memory, serious games, gaming and gambling addiction, and the psychology of entertainment - all through the lenses of board games, card games, casino games, role-playing games, and video games.
Such a great discussion with an engaged group of students! 🙂 #chesspunks – at Ullensaker, Norge
This weekend, I organized Norway’s first-ever live stream of the National Chess Championship for girls and women. Historically, women have received very little attention in the sport, so this year, I decided to change that.
It has been a one-person project from start to finish:
-Sound and video production
-Graphic design and marketing
-Coordinating guests and sponsors
-23 hours of live chess commentary
Somehow, it all came together - and the broadcast was a huge success, reaching more than 9,000 viewers throughout the weekend!
Of course, this wouldn’t have been possible without the amazing guests who volunteered their time to help give women in chess the visibility they deserve. While this has been exhausting, it has also been incredibly rewarding.
A huge thank you to everyone who contributed - and this is just the beginning. Women’s chess deserves more recognition, and I hope this inspires further initiatives in Norway! <3
This chess set was the best money I have ever spent #chesspunks – at Ullensaker, Norge
I am sooo looking forward to this! 😍I am really happy we got an English round as well 🥳 Hope to see you there for some classical chess and interesting conversation! #chesspunks @DrCanChess
