Waiting for the day when I see Flores put all 11 guys at the line simultaneously like a giant wall just to see what happens
Reasons why Flores scheme will continue to keep working.
1. It’s unpredictable. You don’t know how Flores is going to line up his fronts and what the DB’s are going to do
2. He makes a gameplan for each QB he goes up against. He doesn’t keep it the same as always. Kinda goes back to number one in a way.
3. He knows exactly when to blitz and has been doing that relentlessly this year.
4. The QB’s he has faced veterans or young QB’s who haven’t been around long get physically and psychologically worn out with the pressures and hits they take. Flores employs former NFL quarterback Charlie Frye on his defensive staff specifically to build game plans that target how individual quarterbacks read the field. Frye scripts plays from the opposing quarterback's perspective, teaching Flores’s defense the exact footwork, eye discipline, and hot-route timing of that week's opponent. Against Young QBs (like Caleb Williams): Flores will flood the line of scrimmage with "all-up" Cover 0 alignments, showing blitz with 7 or 8 players pre-snap. This forces young quarterbacks into a grueling "mental war" trying to identify the free rusher in under two seconds. Against Elite Processors (like Jared Goff or Jayden Daniels): Instead of standard blitzes, Flores relies heavily on simulated pressures and "made-up zones". He will walk 6 or 7 guys up to the line, but at the snap, drop defenders into "voided coverages" that take away the quarterback's primary hot-read, forcing them to hold onto the ball and sort through secondary progressions while a four-man rush gets home.
5. He knows how to stop the run with the right personel up front. Offenses: He frequently shifts to a heavy 6-1 front to choke out the zone-run game and neutralize play-action fakes. Against Spread/Shotgun Offenses: He will utilize Double-Mug alignments (stacking linebackers over the A-gaps) on nearly every single down, completely derailing the offensive line’s slide protection rules and making it impossible for the quarterback to predict the pass rush.
