#OppressedByTheEU: a few years ago, #EU #ConvergenceFunding supported regeneration in #Swansea &, via a partnership with the council & an @AHRCPress grant, meant I had to lead to a hugely exciting research project on the #medieval town, opening up new #tourism opportunities. Sigh

Silence 12, St Mary’s Warsash, Roll of Honour. With a Kipling poem set to song. Rudyard Kipling was pro-war, and pulled strings to get his short-sighted asthmatic son to the front line. But his son died at the Battle of Loos, & Kipling had to reconcile this loss with his beliefs.

Beech trees on last weekend's guided pilgrimage from Arundel to Bramber. The Old English name for Beech is 'Boc' - which is the root of the word 'Book'. No wonder Beech trees are the most carved and graffittied of all English trees. #OldWay #pilgrimage #trees #nature #holyplace
