The best way to prepare yourself for a career in venture capital is to start a startup. But if you do that well enough, you won't need a career in venture capital.

ChatGPT's answers are like journalism: they sound fairly convincing unless they're about something you understand well, in which case you realize they're full of mistakes.

Interestingly, this doesn't disqualify it as intelligent, any more than it disqualifies journalists. I doubt Turing considered the possibility that a program could pass the Turing Test while constantly saying mistaken things, but I bet he'd find it funny.

Folli! – at Rome, Lazio

This is an interesting point. It may be true of many people, but I don't think it's intrinsic to the nature of advice. I don't mind getting unsolicited advice. I care much more about the quality of advice than whether I solicited it.
Replying to @robkhenderson
2. Don't give unsolicited advice. Advice-giving inherently implies unequal status. Unless people explicitly relinquish claims to equal status by asking for advice, offering it will cultivate resentment.

There's a startup in the current YC batch whose founder's last startup was a hardware company. His cheeriness at only having to do software this time is palpable. He seems like someone starting to play a game on easy mode.

#SlavaUkraini

A company asked why it was so hard to hire a good writer. I told them it was because good writing is an illusion: what people call good writing is actually good thinking, and of course good thinkers are rare.

At the other extreme, remote "work" will become, like meetings, one of the main mechanisms by which unproductive organizations burn time without achieving anything.

Prediction: There will be a bimodal distribution of remote work. At the top end it will allow organizations to employ the best people regardless of their location, and freed from the drag of commuting and distractions of the office, they'll be even more productive.

Though bad investors sometimes cut back dramatically in bad markets, good investors keep investing. They know how terribly dangerous it would be to stop. What if they miss the Google? So don't be deterred from starting a startup because you worry it will be hard to get funding.
