Thousands have already died or are expected to die because of cancer and respiratory disease from exposure at Ground Zero. 9/11 dragged us into foreign conflicts. - 7,000 US service members died - 7,000 US military contractors died - 53,000 US service members were injured - An estimated 30,000 post 9/11 veterans have died by suicide Of course not every Muslim wants to kill Americans, but the terrorists behind 9/11 did. One World Trade Center only exists because of that fact. It was built on the site of the former twin towers as a statement of resolve. Using this building to honor Muslims is disrespectful to the tens of thousands of people who've lost their lives, the great city of New York, and the United States. Shame on the governor and the mayor. But most importantly, shame on the feckless men at the Durst Organization who bent to political pressure.
