Today, I moved a motion in the Senate to make the #ParentsNext program voluntary. It was narrowly voted down by the Govt and One Nation. Thanks to the crossbench Senators who supported. It’s now up to the Govt to fix this broken program which is harming families and children.

To be fair to the government, which is what I’m all about, I think if they can just keep reducing everyone’s life expectancy by ignoring climate change, removing social safety nets, and eroding basic human rights, then we’ll really start to see the gap closing in years to come.

You can’t “Close a gap if you aren’t measuring it” given none of the funded programs are actually targeting suicide prevention & within that measuring suicide risk reduction factors - what would they actually report as their KPIs?
