๐จ Montell Jordan Reveals Drakeโs โPapiโs Homeโ Helped Him Finally Recoup His First Album 28 Years Later! ๐๐ฅ
Singer Montell Jordan recently appeared on the TFU Podcast and revealed how Drake sampling his 1990s song โDaddyโs Homeโ on โPapiโs Homeโ from Certified Lover Boy helped him finally recoup the money he was owed on his debut album with Def Jam Records. ๐คฏ๐ฐ
What makes this even crazier is that Montell Jordan released his debut album, This Is How We Do It, back in 1995, which featured one of the biggest hits of the entire decade with the albumโs iconic title track.
๐ฃ๏ธ Montell Jordan:
โDrake sampling that song from my first album accelerated my recoupment of all those 30 years. It accelerated it for me to finally recoup. It was 28 years later. I ended up recouping my first album on Def Jam. Finally came out of the red into the black, 28 years later. With the help of Champagne Papi.โ
๐ THE DRAKE EFFECT IS REAL! ๐ฅ
Think about that for a second. Montell Jordan had one of the biggest songs of the โ90s, yet it took nearly three decades for him to finally recoup his first albumโs costs. Then Drake sampled a song from that same album and helped him get over the finish line.
Thatโs the power of catalog music and what happens when an artist like Drake brings an older record to a whole new generation. ๐ฏ๐

Nick Saban says he had lived his entire life like he was in a hurry and didnโt even realize it
โWhen I retired, and I donโt know if I ever shared this with anybody, I spent 50 years of my life being in a hurry and didnโt know it.โ
โI retired and the cars are backed up on the bridge and it goes down to one lane. In the old days, I would be the guy that passed all the cars up and cut in at the last minute in front of somebody.โ
โI sat there with Miss Terry in the car. She says, โYou mean youโre not going to pass everybody illegally and cut in?โ I said, โWeโre not in a hurry.โโ
โBut itโs the first time when I retired that I realized that I wasnโt in a hurry. And I was in a hurry for 50 years and didnโt know it.โ
โI was always hurrying up to the next thing. Solve the next problem, go to the next thing. And you talk about relieving stress, that relieves stress better than anything. I just noticed it in that circumstance. Not cutting into traffic and waiting my turn.โ
