Reminder that the organization these people are shilling is accused of misappropriation.
If you donate, your money ain't going to help anybody. It's a scam, and these people are probably getting paid for the shill.

Ah, I wasn't sure what else to add from the 1970's. Forgot about Shameless School & Otoko Ipiki.

Japanese fans grew up with series like Kochikame. It's a huge part of their culture, and it goes to show that anime and manga history is much bigger than the mainstream hits overseas fans focus on.

Depends how much of an otaku you are. Most of the time, the English Shonen Jump anime fandom feels like the 1st image when it should be more like the 2nd image. To this day, people don't feel motivated to read Fist Of The North Star or Kinnikuman which has a 1000+ Eng chs.🤷♂️

Despite being a 21-volume manga, receiving an anime adaptation that ran for 87 episodes alongside three movies, and being available in both English and French, Magical Taruruuto-kun is rarely mentioned whenever people look back on the golden age of Weekly Shonen Jump.
And it's certainly not the fault of today's readers. Tatsuya Egawa himself complained about the fact that his series wasn't competing on a level playing field, even back then. While Weekly Shonen Jump was primarily aimed at a teenage audience, Egawa had been asked to target a much younger demographic. Despite this, he managed to keep the series running for four years, holding its own against some of the most iconic titles in the magazine's history. On several occasions, its popularity in reader polls was surpassed only by Dragon Ball.
It might not be everyone's cup of tea, but there's no denying the impact it had at the time. Magical Taruruuto-kun deserves far more recognition than it gets today, not just for surviving in one of the most fiercely competitive eras in manga history, but for carving out its own place in a magazine dominated by titles aimed at older readers. Its success is a reminder that the golden age of Jump wasn't shaped by battle shonen alone, and that some of its most interesting stories are the ones that tend to get overlooked when we look back on that era.

This one hits at a personal level. I live in the city he passed away in, and his family owns a cultural arts hub here in town. You never knew when you'd run into RJ in town, but it was always a possibility, and I count myself lucky to be among those people. Rest in peace, man.

It’s the age that scares me. I don’t think anyone should die that young.
