A truth worth noting
As a recovering SID off a 33-year run at smaller D1s, and a writer since, @TimBrando is absolutely on target. Thru most of D1, coaches are almost deity. SIDs used to serve media for benefit of the school. Now it's usually corporate PR often with alternative facts and no control.

Yesterday at the Bills game I sat next to a 30 year-old woman from New York City.
I asked how she became a Bills fan.
When she was 8, she had cancer. She spent nearly a year at Children's Hospital of Buffalo, once Oishei, now Golisano. Bills kicker Rian Lindell visited her several times. She and her mom decided that if she lived, she would be a Bills fan for life.
She lived. And yesterday she was at the home opener of the new stadium.
