Don’t take the wrong lessons from the Dem wins. This is not an embrace of democratic socialism. The candidates all ran mostly moderate, disciplined campaigns focused narrowly on affordability and opposition to Trump policy that drove up costs (tariffs, Iran war). 1/2

They smartly nominated many younger, talented candidates. But they also benefited from an extremely unpopular President during a very favorable political environment that depressed GOP turnout. Still a huge win, but let’s hope they take the right lessons here to apply to 2028.
