Set him loose like a yard dog. Let him chase, harass, snap at heels and make those defenders dread the sight of him charging towards them. Remember Andy Robertson's extraordinary press against City in 2018? That glorious, almost deranged pursuit of the ball that had Anfield roaring with every stride. That's the sort of energy I want from Koumas. He gave us a glimpse against Tottenham in the cup. Relentless running, genuine aggression, an appetite for the dirty work that can transform the mood of an entire stadium. Iraola called his energy contagious. Quite right, too. And Sunday demands precisely that. City will arrive at Anfield surrounded by controversy, facing an atmosphere that promises to be ferocious from the first whistle. Liverpool must embrace it, feed off it and make every City player feel the weight of the occasion. Koumas has the youthful fearlessness for such a task.
