THESE ARE THE LUNCH/BAR TAB RULES 1. Law students NEVER pay if out with a lawyer 2. If there are two lawyers, the senior lawyer pays 3. A junior lawyer MAY pay only if he insists because he is trying to make a show of appreciation or respect, and refusing his offer would be an insult. Only applies if it is a two lawyer lunch. 4. If two equal lawyers, the one in his home town pays. Splitting is allowed if they are both from town, or both not from town. Otherwise, he who gets his card to the waitress first, wins. 5. If more than two lawyers, and splitting the check would result in something other than a 50-50 split (because you have an associate with you or whatnot) he who is responsible for more than 50% of the check anyway shall pay the whole check. 6. Except in scenarios 1 or 3, it is acceptable to allow the non payer to contribute the tip, but the tip must be excessive.
