Super fun side-by-side. Testamatta brightness and vibrancy is alluring. Flacc almost felt classic (comparatively speaking).
Slightly bumpy road through the opening 5, but the final trio of the @MystereWineClub Bruno tasting were spectacular!
I adore the vibrancy + poise Lionel achieved, but it couldn't reach the towering heights of traditional giants on the night.
Release prices 拢65, 拢117, 拢56 馃く
Tarlant trumped the other Growers. Voerzio showing a lot of bottle variation from last (same case). Scharzhofberger total 馃憣 to close - impossible sherbetty freshness.
Centrepice of a brilliant luncheon w the legend @wineorack
Have said it previously - 96 Palmer is as good as it gets. Enjoying a loooong peak. Giddy and dizzy 馃憣馃挴
Blessed to add this birth year Tondonia to my collection from the cellar of a late friend. Heartwarming that he originally sourced it from Ballatyne's (which is today @noblegrapeuk); likely at mid-90s release.
Some incredible duels last night. Had us in full debate.
- 09 Scharzhofberger Spatlese might be top 5 of 2024
- never tasted a Barolo quite like Accomasso
- Beyche was in amazing hands in the 80's
For anyone curious about the new Zalto Balance glass.
Real life shot of Universal, Bdx, Balance, Burg.
Only tasted a handful of Comando G bottles. Wasn't prepared for how incredible they were, or how humble and brilliant Dani and Fernando would be. Total trailblazers.
Drinking Angelus on a day it's caused such a stir. Spiritual juice. My fav right bank. But you need your head wobbled if you buy 23 EP.
One of the best dinners I've ever enjoyed in Cardiff. Line-up, food and service all on-point. 7 sub flights matched to courses. Team at @Asador44 were SO accommodating. Attentive service and extremely tolerable with 150 stems 馃槼馃槆.
Thanks Owen, Adam, Charlotte and team 馃檹

Cheaper. Your bottles came from this order.
Drinking maiden vintage Porseleinberg is like drinking modern Cape history 馃ぉ馃檹.
Primary aplenty. Squelchy raspberry and citrus tang. Smoked meats, cumin spice and dried earth complexity.
Holding up v well. Better years ahead. Perhaps the most Rotie-like Cape I've ever tasted.
Would anyone else be surprised to find a Piedmont bottle under Vinolok? Surprised the DOCG permit it... I believe Barolo and Barbaresco mandate cork closures.
I've always enjoyed the buffed Barbarescos from Pino. First time tasting their Barbera.
Holiday bottle selection includes some of our fav styles. Love getting away from October/November UK weather 馃槑

As predicted, it was even better the next day... About 50ml breathing in bottle for 24hrs made it beautifully resolved.

I'm happy to join both and compare, if that helps?
