Did a bit of a deep dive on Jayden Daniels stats after his impressive second half in San Fran.
Jayden Daniels has played in 31 games (including 3 playoff games) in his career. That doesn’t even come out to 2 full seasons.
Jayden Daniels career stats (including playoffs):
6,411 passing yards
43 touchdowns, 13 interceptions
66.3 completion percentage
266 carries, 1,517 rushing yards
11 rushing touchdowns
Jayden Daniels stats since beginning of 2025 season (11 games, some of which he was playing injured and did not finish):
2,021 passing yards
11 touchdowns, 3 interceptions
62.2 completion percentage
83 carries, 491 rushing yards
4 rushing touchdowns
Stats don’t lie. Jayden Daniels is an elite NFL QB talent. You can point to on field errors the last couple of weeks and injury concerns, but at the end of the day Jayden Daniels represents the Commanders best path to a Super Bowl and the team should figure out whatever the best way to put him in the position to succeed is, because if he succeeds the franchise will.

The 2026 #Commanders are the first NFL team to have a +6 turnover margin and a -40 scoring margin through the first six games of a season since… the 1980 Redskins.
Washington fired head coach Jack Pardee after the 1980 season and hired future Hall of Famer Joe Gibbs

@SteveSmithSr89 and @SaturdayJeff comment on the Commanders' fourth-down blunder in their loss against the 49ers 😲
4-2 team with Mike Tomlin
Can't convince me otherwise

confirmed
Dan Quinn called for a field goal when it was already 49ers ball after a turnover on downs, because he had no idea the prior play was 4th down

The #Commanders have played 2 games since 2020 vs 5-0 or better teams.
They won both of those games on Mondays (defeated 11-0 PIT in 2020 & 8-0 Eagles in 2022).
They face the 5-0 #49ers on Monday Night Football tonight
Their last loss to a 5-0 team? The 2019 49ers

Jayden Daniels is 12-0 when Washington holds opponents under 24 points.
Over the past two season the average scoring for an NFL team per game is 23 points. If he just had an average defense we’d be talking about him like Mahomes/Lamar
All good things come to an end but they don’t have to be replaced by disaster 🤦🏾♂️
Troy Aikman confirmed today he plans to leave ESPN after the Super Bowl 61 broadcast with Joe Buck.
Aikman and Buck had been partners on calls for 25 consecutive seasons.
There is significant buzz building that ESPN could be replacing Aikman with Pat McAfee in 2027.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Troy Aikman said he will be a free agent after this season but did not confirm plans to leave ESPN. McAfee has denied any conversations about replacing him in the MNF booth.

I’m sure part of the reason is the Super Bowl loss. If they complete the journey to back-to-back titles, that 83 team is discussed as maybe the best in franchise history (because it predates the epic 91 team)
So @notthefakeSVP just dropped a segment on a Skins game he attended with his grandpa I'd NEVER heard of. Thought I knew all the big RFK games. But the '83 NFC title game vs the 49ers? Not a clue. A late FG to win it? News to me. Winning 4 NFC titles at home in 10 years is crazy
That's about as awkward a situation as there is in all of football
Joe Buck and Troy Aikman had an argument before Monday night's Rams-Bills game over tension surrounding their ESPN contract situations, per @sportsrapport.
Buck recently agreed to a new 6-year deal worth approximately $108M, while Aikman has yet to receive an extension offer. Aikman's contract expires after this season, and his future at ESPN remains uncertain.
The disagreement eventually de-escalated, and the two went on to call the game without viewers noticing anything unusual.

you can talk about the late game botch, but Dan Quinn screwed up the game for the Commanders well before that
first half, Quinn went 22% man coverage & 50% 2-high (#5 highest)
held Jameis Winston 4.5 YPA, 44% comp & -0.58 EPA/att
it worked
but in the second half, despite losing, the Giants went WAY more heavy personnel, dropping 11 personnel from 43% to 25%
...but they passed out of it (of course they would, they were down 2 TDs)
but Quinn matched personnel & played 43% man coverage (#5 highest) & 18% 2-high
Jameis vs more favorable coverages in the second half?
+0.67 EPA/att (#4)
68% success (#1)
3:0 TD:INT (#1)
10.7% TD rate (#2)
Quinn was massively outcoached by Matt Nagy in the second half
Now let me get ahead of this.
STOP ASSUMING OFFENSIVE COORDINATORS ARE GOOD HEAD COACHES.
For every McVay, there's an Adam Gase, Josh McDaniels and two more current OCs-turned-HCs. Great Xs and Os doesn't automatically mean you can lead a whole team.
We have a lot of time to further discuss in the future but I'm just going to get ahead of this.
STOP TALKING ABOUT HIRING MIKE TOMLIN.
STOP hiring DEFENSIVE head coaches to run your NFL team in 2026. It almost never works.
Hire the smartest offensive play-caller available. That is what works.
ENOUGH with the culture-building DC bit.
Uncle.
The Commanders need to be ahead of the trends, not following the ones from the 2010s. Tomlin raises the floor (there's no 5-12 on his watch) and I'd love to see him here (and JD5 would be the best QB he's had since prime Big Ben, perhaps better). But even if not Tomlin, ...
