Thousands of bird trappers are operating in #Malta from today under fake "research" permits - despite 2 EU Court rulings against it! @CABS_REPORTS is fighting back: 8 poachers caught, illegal nets seized, and 39 trapped birds freed.

8 Short-eared Owl came in-off the sea at Trow this morning between 8 and 1. There was very little in the Quarry itself, so I decided to watch the sea and a Black-throated Diver going north was the only other thing of note.

I was heading home from Central Park, thinking I was done with birding for the day. Nope! This cute little Black and White Warbler was hopping along a fence on West 100th St. Never stop birding! 😎😎😎 #Warblers #CentralPark #birdcpp

Rescued from unimaginable cruelty in Lebanon, this #kestrel had her eyes sewn shut by a falcon trapper to serve as a live decoy for >6 weeks. Thanks to our anti-poaching team and vet care, she’s healed and back in the open sky where she belongs!

There will be limited parking available on the car park tomorrow. The contractor will cordon off an area to park. If this is full follow signs 200 yards east of car park to park at Leafields Barns on gravel area only. DO NOT PARK AT LEAFIELDS FARM!!

As the Government debates the selling of non commercial fireworks, maybe they could give a thought to the totally unnecessary use of fire lanterns. As a farmer, I really wish people would stop releasing sky lanterns into our beautiful countryside. They might look pretty floating across the night sky, but what goes up must come down. And all too often, that means landing in our fields. Livestock can swallow sharp pieces hidden in their feed, become tangled in fallen frames or suffer terrible injuries. And that’s before we even consider the fire risk to crops, barns, wildlife and animal bedding. And please don’t be fooled by the word biodegradable. It doesn’t make them harmless. Our countryside isn’t a dumping ground, and our animals shouldn’t have to suffer for a few moments of entertainment. I would wholeheartedly support a UK-wide ban on sky lanterns. Would you?
