Today, we’re launching an e-petition alongside the @CCGSD_CCDGS calling on the Government of Canada to act for #TransEqualityNow. Why? Because we need federal leadership to deliver trans equality in practice, not just on paper. Sign and share: transequalitynow.ca

Worth mentioning that this was a temporary injunction. In a few weeks, the gov’t could’ve defended the policy in court Instead, he’s doing this. Either because this is what he always wanted, or because he’s afraid he would lose in court Cowardice or opportunism, take your pick.

This is a direct result of the hateful rhetoric seen at Wednesday's protest.
Police are investigating and a letter was issued by Eastwood Collegiate Institute yesterday after a Pride flag was reportedly burned, trampled, and thrown at a group of 2SLGBTQ+ students. The same students also allegedly had rocks thrown at them as they boarded their bus.

"If these policies (are) passed, people are going to die, children are going to die in this country without access to any gender-affirming care," said Hodson, who ran for the party in the 2021 federal election in Victoria, B.C.

Ford's participation in anti-trans arguments at #FordFest is particularly disgusting considering on the same day, terrorism charges were announced against the attacker of the @UWaterloo gender studies class. Our leaders who spread hate need to be held accountable.

An additional charge of mischief was added because the attacker also tore up a pride flag. This is why vandalism of pride symbols needs to be taken extremely seriously. It goes hand-in-hand with violence against people.

Today marks six years since the addition of #GenderIdentity to the Canadian Human Rights Act. On June 19, 2017, Bill C-16 was signed into law, making gender identity and gender expression prohibited grounds of discrimination.

Why do we need Pride month? Because things like this keep happening.
We’re sad to report that the rainbow crosswalk on Willis Way was vandalised with tire marks. There is no place for hate in Waterloo. Crews have been working hard to clean things up and give the crosswalk a fresh shine for now, with a full restoration coming soon.
