The world is celebrating Diwali by bursting crackers. My dog is spending the night hiding under the bed, trembling in fear.
Meanwhile, people with asthma are breathing polluted air, elderly people and babies are struggling with the noise, heart patients may experience distress, and birds and stray animals have nowhere to escape.
At what point did our idea of celebration become so insensitive to the people and living beings around us?
Your celebration shouldn’t have to come at the cost of someone else’s health, peace or well-being.
And before anyone makes this about religion or communalism, I celebrate Diwali too. This isn’t about religion. It’s about basic civic sense and empathy.

Several people were injured after a major fire broke out at a building housing Kia Car and Garment showrooms near gate number 2 of Saket Metro Station;
The entire area near the Saket metro station has been constructed illegally, without necessary permissions and adhering to safety norms. But, our Govt will not take any action against these dangerous and unsafe buildings because they have to protect the interests of Builder Mafia and Corrupt Politicians. Wait for more tragedies to occur in this area in near future.

After Imran Khan, police have now approached the FRRO to verify actor Zayn Marie Khan’s OCI card status.
A US citizen born in Mumbai, Zayn was named in an FIR alongside her cousin Imran Khan for allegedly participating in the October 10 protest against CEC Gyanesh Kumar at August Kranti Maidan.
The police action is clearly gathering momentum. An FIR has consequences, and the law will take its course.
