Married/Christian/Gay/MAGA and mouthy. Too mature to explain myself, too stubborn to change, and too soft to leave an animal behind. Please Save n Rescue.

Berlin and Los Angeles both have about 3.9 million people. LA has 8,000 police officers. Berlin has 18,000. Most people guess Berlin has fewer, and I did too. Gladwell’s point is that America didn’t choose less safety, it chose a different spend: fewer cops before the crime, more prison after it. Prevention vs punishment. Once you see it framed that way, it’s hard to unsee.

Miami-Dade Sheriff Rosie details how she saved taxpayers $33 MILLION by forgoing new uniforms, a cold plunge and massage tables and NOT getting logos printed all over everything. This completely shuts down Grady Judd and Greg Tony’s bullshit. “We are paying the county $54 million a year for IT services. Through closer supervision and careful review of spending, we brought that down to $42 million, a $12 million annual savings without reducing services. And as we work toward managing our own technology independently, we project another $6 to $7 million in annual savings, bringing that cost down to approximately $35 to $36 million. That's an $18 to $19 million in annual IT savings already achieved or projected. Personnel, eliminating the county's Sargent-at-Arms program will save approximately $4.1 million annually and return those deputies to core law enforcement functions. We have also adjusted patrol schedules to improve coverage and reduce the need for overtime through better scheduling. Uniforms and vehicles. Keeping our existing brown uniforms, instead of changing to green, avoided approximately $4.8 million in costs. Updating graphics on approximately 1,700 existing white vehicles, instead of repainting them, avoided another $5.7 million. These two practical decisions alone account for $10.5 million. Our purchasing and operating, buying office supplies directly from the vendor that the county uses, saved us approximately $200,000 annually. Through a state cooperative contract, we are also obtaining fuel incentives and rebates of up to $0.15 per gallon, maintenance discounts of up to 20% from participating providers and discounting on our tire replacements. Together, the items we have quantified represent approximately $32.8 to $33.8 million in savings and avoided costs, including the changes that we are still processing. Fuel, maintenance, and scheduling efficiencies add further savings beyond that total. And we are only getting started.”

I swear SOMETHING broke in society after 2020 and nobody wants to talk about it. And I’m not talking about masks, lockdowns, or COVID. I mean the FEELING of life. Everything reopened. We went back to work. Restaurants filled up. Events came back. But somehow life still feels… different. Years disappear faster. People feel more disconnected. Everything feels more expensive, stressful & rushed. And somehow we’re all constantly exhausted. I can’t even explain exactly what we lost. I just know life before 2020 felt more ALIVE. Tell me I’m not the only one who feels this.

Female cops are the absolute worst at this job. Rescue kittens, search other females and respond to accidents. Thats all.
This is insane… this officer should be fired and charges pressed against the entire department…

When your name is also your business model.
Confirmed three more closures of Crumbl locations, which brings my count of shutdowns to at least 60 so far this year. One of those three is in Louisville, and comes along with a Chapter 7 bankruptcy filing, which gives us a partial picture of an operator's finances. The operators in this case walked away from a location that was opened in 2024 and had 2.5 years remaining on its lease. According to court documents, it has $352,780 in liabilities compared with just $10,000 in assets, all in the form of signs and cookie-making equipment. There's no other assets listed, including inventory, receivables, deposits, etc. The equipment is the collateral for a $269,109, secured loan with Republic Bank. So the collateral is worth just 3.7 cents for every $1 of secured debt. The operator also said that it lost $17,000 operating the business this year. And it owes $69,000 to the landlord for those 2.5 years remaining on the lease. At one point, this was one of the top 25% of Crumbl locations and the operators were telling @NRNonline that they wanted a third location. You can check out the original NRN article with the operators here: nrn.com/restaurant-franchisi… And here's our look at Crumbl: restaurantbusinessonline.com…
