With the RITREK Android app you can create, upload, monitor, and initiate Bitcoin Timelock-Recovery plans.
Each plan consists of two pre-signed transactions, with a cancellation-window between them, allowing your your Bitcoin to move from from your main wallet to a second recovery wallet.
For example, it could transfer funds from a wallet protected by a memorized passphrase which only you know, to one without a passphrase that your heirs can access.
Share the recovery plans with your heirs. If they initiate them, RITREK will notify you, giving you time to cancel the process before the cancellation window ends (e.g., 90 days).
Your seed phrase remains secure on your hardware wallet.

Your Bitcoiner friend might misplace your encrypted seed backup, but you can bet he'll take better care of his own seed.
You can create pre-signed Timelock Recovery transactions that allow your Bitcoin to move from your wallet to his - but only after a cancellation window.
Back up those transactions, then monitor your plan with the RITREK Android app. If someone gets hold of them and initiates recovery, you'll receive an alert so you can move your funds before the cancellation window closes.

Helped a buddy recover his wallet today.
He sent me an encrypted microsd years ago. I put it in a safe.
Checked the safe today. Wasn't there.
Well, guess I didn't put it in the safe after all. 🤷♂️
After 3h we found the file in an ancient ThinkPad I had airgapped.
After another two hours we got the disk encryption key right.
He miraculously walked home with his sats and a lesson about who not to trust.
Imagine your less tech-savvy heirs trying to use the third-party multisig solution you left them - only to discover that its app is no longer available in the app store.
With Timelock Recovery, your heirs don’t need the app. They can use either:
1. A BIP-128 JSON file, which they can upload at any time to RITREK.com/send to initiate recovery.
2. A PDF with instructions for broadcasting the pre-signed transactions through ant Bitcoin block explorer (e.g., mempool.space, blockstream.info) - even if RITREK is no longer accessible.
Only you, the original owner, need the app: to monitor your recovery plans and receive alerts (push-notification & email) if someone initiates them against your will. With 90 days’ advance notice, you have more than enough time to move your Bitcoin elsewhere.

Just create a Timelock Recovery plan: pre-signed transactions that move the Bitcoin to a simple wallet after a relative timelock from the initiation.
Keep the multisig. Give your family a simpler recovery path.

George Costanza needed RITREK!
Create a Timelock Recovery (pre-signed transactions with a relative timelock) from your passphrase wallet to the exact same wallet without the passphrase - while you still remember it.
Future you will thank you.

Are you excited about the recent Bitcoin surge? Do you check the price before you even get out of bed?
I vibe-coded an Android alarm clock that wakes you with happy music if BTC went up overnight, and sad music if it went down.
Set it once, every day, or chosen weekdays. At alarm time it fetches BTC/USD, then plays Number Go Up or Number Go Down on the Android alarm stream. Press Stop and it reads the price.

If you're moving your Bitcoin into a complicated setup (e.g. multi-vendor multisig) that you don't have plans to touch for years, @SpecterWallet and @ElectrumWallet let you create pre-signed Timelock Recovery transactions that can move the Bitcoin to a simple single-vendor wallet.
Can't figure out how to operate the multisig wallet you configured 5 years ago? Just broadcast the pre-signed transactions, and within 90 days (configurable) the Bitcoin moves to the simple wallet.

Lots of people are changing how they store their bitcoin right now, whether that means switching hardware wallets or moving to a custodian.
Whatever you choose, practice using it. Know how to secure your access, deposit, withdraw, spend, and recover your funds.
The first time you really need to use your setup shouldn’t be during an emergency.
What will cause more Bitcoiners to lose their savings over the next 10 years: the Coldcard bug itself, or Bitcoiners who - rightfully alarmed by it - are now building overcomplicated setups, without pre-signed transactions that can recover their funds into a simpler wallet?

If you use a complicated setup, make sure you have pre-signed transactions that could send your Bitcoin to a simple wallet, via BIP-128 TimelockRecovery.com

Imagine doing it with 75 bitcoin because you were going to print out your stupid complex passphrase, but your printer is a POS and wouldn't work, then you said "i'll do it later," then you forgot and months later it was on the computer that you were reformatting for Linux and just as it was finishing... you remembered...
What's your Bitcoin war story?
Follow the instructions here to pre-sign Timelock-Recovery transactions that can move your Bitcoin from your passphrase wallet to your non-passphrase wallet:
ritrek.gitbook.io/ritrek-doc…
Email the signed transactions to your family. If they got leaked and somebody tries to broadcast them against your will - you have time (default: 90 days) to recall your passphrase and revoke the transfer.
No need for multisig, no need for miniscripts.

Yes.
A simple solution is to pre-sign transactions after transferring your Bitcoin to a multisig/complicated-passphrase setup. These transactions would send the Bitcoin to a simpler wallet and could be backed up, for example, by emailing them to your family.
One option is a single transaction with a future locktime, such as January 1, 2030, along with a reminder to move the Bitcoin to a new address before the deadline and sign a new future-transaction (assuming you still have access).
Another option is a pair of transactions using a relative timelock, such as 90 days, combined with a monitoring service like RITREK.com that alerts you if the transactions are broadcast by accident (Family email hacked? You still have time to move the BTC elsewhere). More information can be found at:

RITREK can't help much if your seed was generated with poor entropy.
But as more Bitcoiners become paranoid and move to complex passphrases and multisig setups, we should remember: far more bitcoin has been lost through overcomplicated setups than has ever been stolen.
With RITREK, you can create pre-signed transactions that can move your bitcoin from a complicated wallet to a simpler one (within a timelock, i.e. 90 days) - for example, from a wallet protected by a complex passphrase known only to you to a wallet protected by a simpler passphrase you've left for your family.

Make sure you self-custody your hard-earned Bitcoin too.
Make sure you also have a proper recovery plan - for your future self and for your family.

Natural disasters remind us how quickly life can change 💔
If you can, support the people affected by the earthquake in #Venezuela. And while you're at it, make sure your #Bitcoin has a resilient recovery plan - for you and your loved ones.
My wife and I, with the help of some community members, have started a crowdfunding campaign to buy supplies to donate to Venezuela.
We are two Venezuelans living in Spain, and it breaks our hearts to see the tragedy that has unfolded in our country and to feel completely helpless. We wanted to donate, but since we have been living exclusively on Bitcoin for quite some time now, it has been impossible to find an NGO that accepts Bitcoin donations. Because of this, we decided to take matters into our own hands.
All the funds raised will be used to buy the items that are needed right now:
Non-perishable food
Medicine and first-aid supplies
Hygiene products
Flashlights and batteries
Everything we manage to buy will be taken to a collection center, where they will handle delivering it directly to those affected.
