Written by Bob Thiele (as "George Douglas") & George David Weiss, the song "What a Wonderful World," was first recorded and released on October 18, 1967, by Louis Armstrong. The single hit #1 in the UK in April 1968, but lack of promotion by ABC Records left it nearly obsolete in the US until it was added to the movie Good Morning, Vietnam in 1987. The single, reissued in 1988, peaked at #32 on the Billboard Hot 100. This version was added to the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1999.
