🙏 support this important memorial tomorrow night, from 6pm to 7.30pm. Life expectancy for people living on our streets is 30 years less than people with homes. Life expectancy for people with drug or alcohol dependency is equally 30 years less than the national average.
Shorter lives due to lack of services, & a political system that doesn’t prioritise care of people, especially the most vulnerable amongst us,but seeks to stigmatise instead.
Right to Food, nutrition & health runs parallel to the right to housing & a life with dignity for all.

📢 Our 2026 #BrokenPlate report shows the poorest families with children would need to spend 𝟴𝟱% of their income to afford the government-recommended healthy diet.
This should act as a wake-up call for policymakers to ensure everyone has access to good food.

Today, the UK Right To Food Commission has written to the Prime Minister raising urgent concerns over rising food insecurity, increasing food inflation and reports of potential dynamic pricing for food in supermarkets.
With 14 million people across the UK already living with food insecurity, we are calling for immediate action to protect families struggling to afford basic essentials.
Our message is clear:
* Food is a human right, not a luxury.
* Dynamic pricing for food must never be introduced.
* Household incomes must rise for those most at risk.
* Support for community food hubs and grassroots organisations must be strengthened.
* Excessive profiteering while families go hungry cannot continue.
The evidence gathered by the Commission across Liverpool, Newcastle, Aberdare, Cardiff and Belfast shows that food insecurity is driving health inequalities, damaging life opportunities and deepening poverty in communities across the country.
We urge the Government to act now.

Worryingly, most areas across the UK have seen healthy life expectancy fall since 2012.

Today marks a significant day in the fight against child poverty, as the lifting of the two-child limit comes into force, moving thousands of children out of poverty. I’m proud to have originally voted against this cruel policy in 2024 and glad the Govt has finally seen sense.
