Finished watching all eight episodes of Mike Flanagan’s “Carrie.” It was a “Carrie” that felt closely connected to today’s generation, society, education system, and everyday life. Having watched De Palma’s version countless times, I found the ending refreshing. Perhaps it was an expansion of something foreshadowed in the original novel. I also happened to be reading Stephen King’s “Firestarter,” recently reissued in Japan by Kawade Bunko, which made the experience all the more meaningful. Next up for Flanagan is “The Exorcist.”
