There's no excuse for us not to be GREAT at putting. It's the one part of our game all of us can practice at home - even with limited time and/or space. Power up to putting improvement in 30 seconds...

I subconsciously judge accounts using the following equation: (uniqueness) x (interestingness) x (helpfulness) I've mentioned @engineeringolf as one of my favorite accounts that scores highly (to me) in each of these, and @drakesmith__ is another. Valuable/helpful content that no other account, that I know of, is providing. If you're like me, and you enjoy the process of maximizing/optimizing the return you get from this game - in every sense - Drake is another must-follow.
Golfers: I am at a mini tour event. I haven't been to one of these things since I played. Observation... There are a lot of talented guys who get comfortable playing mini tours. They know everyone, this is where their friends are, they show up and go through the motions. They seem to lose sight of the fact that this is a step towards where they want to be and act as if they will be here for the long term. And then... There are guys who show up, start running their process immediately. They practice, walk and talk differently. They see this as a stop along the way not the destination. They already act like PGA Tour players they are just not there yet. A great reminder to me just in life. Pushing daily for me is the only way to feel alive and not stuck. I have certainly had periods of time where I let myself get comfortable, the problem is you get complacent and then it takes a lot more energy to get going again. Discipline and momentum are a skill that leads to belief and are only available to those who keep moving the goal post forward.

You don't have to take my word for it, Coach Smith knows a thing or two about optimizing your game (and yourself) to get your lowest scores possible. 👇
"What is the biggest difference between a Pro and an amateur?" I get this question a lot. I am around Professional golf quite a bit. They make a lot of puts inside of 6 ft. They are able to keep their rounds going even when not hitting it well because of their putting. Ball striking will come and go. Being able to make those 6 ft putts will keep you in the game.

Spot on! Once you can generally strike the ball and get around the course, 3-putt avoidance and scrambling (getting up and down) are your fastest tickets to lower scores.
The most and least important stats to track for your game. 💯

In a world (social media) that has evolved to mostly reward/select accounts that produce/repurpose lowbrow clickbait slop, TGE continues to grow the old fashioned way and provide hope for humanity. Original + Intelligent + Interesting = Quality 👇
I’m conflicted. I often receive messages from big fans of the account, inquiring for club advice. That’s what I’m here for. 🫡 But it’s my first time seeing most of your names. On one hand, I’m grateful for this audience. Almost 1 year in, I never imagined this growth. On the other, I feel disconnected. 99% of the audience consumes without participating. There's a guy on the other side of this icon with a dream of making golf posts and providing 1v1 equipment advice full-time. It’s crazy I’m able to type that. But I am nothing w/o you involved. Engagement is your internet support currency. I read every comment. A follow costs you nothing. I notice those who like often. Hitting the heart button is private. I’m likely to reply to familiar accounts. Quote posts are the ultimate boost, no matter who they're from. I want to let you know how much your participation means to the person on the other side of any account you enjoy. TLDR; If I’ve helped your game and you want to see more, hit the buttons. It’s the best way to help me help you. With love, TGE. 🚀

Reviews are the lifeblood of small businesses like mine. I don't have the "ins" at the big publishers and content producers, so they're the only way people can learn what existing customers are experiencing with Right Edge products. Much ❤️ and appreciation for reviews!

If you're serious about improving your putting and lowering your scores...

This @TourSwingsTommy article is so absolutely spot-on and a super valuable read for almost any non-pro golfer who actually wants to lower their scores. We amateurs have jobs, kids, life - So, maximizing the return (improvement) from our practice time is extra critical.
Comparing yourself to Tour pros in make-rate percentages can be deceiving. From 30 feet, Tour pros make around 7% of putts. For a 10-handicap it’s roughly 5%. But this is irrelevant. Nobody is making long putts. Here’s where you’re acting losing strokes on the green: The “average leave distance” on Tour from 30-feet is 2.5 feet. For a 10-handicap it’s over 6 feet… 2.5X the distance, and 50% chance of missing the next one. I wrote more about this topic below 👇

TGE never disappoints!
Start your putts on line. Despite this how-to guide on topspin, face angle at impact is by far the most impactful metric for making putts. If manipulating your natural stroke to achieve optimal roll is affecting your start line, it may not be worth it.

Big fan of The Golf Engineer! Honest truth really is much more interesting than marketing jargon, and I think that's why it seems like every post he makes is interesting. Would be cool if he did a little series on putters and putter design/tech. ;-)
I started this account because I was often frustrated by golf marketing treating consumers like they were naive and gullible. If you’d prefer unbiased gear takes that treat you like an intelligent, informed player… You’ve found the right place. 🫡
