Just the thought of being in a position to help grow the game of baseball is one I still have trouble wrapping my head around at times. It is an honor & responsibility I am fully aware of & appreciate deeply. It is not without tears, many of them happy, as well as some heartache when I think about my evolution from fan, to player & now broadcaster- especially with it all being for just 1 team. From youth camps, to community outreach programs, Root beer float days & countless other endeavors, giving back to a fan base that supported me from day 1 has been the pleasure of my lifetime. I’m not the government so I can’t control the weather. Seasons change. As they do so do the opportunities to continue to grow the greatest game on earth not only in our community but everywhere. The smiles I saw on the kids faces today reminded me of just how special & important the responsibility of passing this game along is. I will continue to work tirelessly to serve our franchise & to grow our community. A guy growing up & coming from where I did was never supposed to be a part of moments like this let alone serving in any capacity. I’ve worked hard to serve our fans & fans of baseball in general & I will do my very best every day that I am granted the opportunity to do so.
