Deforestation can make bednets less effective. Whoah. New findings from Tafesse Estifanos and team at @gundinstitute. These interactions between nature and health are everywhere, as highlighted this week by the #NexusAssessment here at #IPBES11 in Namibia .
Lose too much forest, and the fight against malaria is harder to win. That's the takeaway from new #UVM research.
When deforestation rates exceed 50%, bed-nets lose effectiveness against malaria.

We manage what we measure, so let’s measure what matters. Companies conducting business in Europe will now have to do that. And this report will help them use new tech to get started quickly. It’s been a pleasure working with @planet @Microsoft @NatCapProject on this.
Companies are used to tracking carbon output, but what about other biodiversity impacts?
A new white paper coauthored by #UVM prof. Taylor Ricketts offers ways to measure companies' affects on nature.

Wild bees are critical for blueberries, but the natural areas that support wild bees also support crop pests. UVM CoP member and Food Systems PhD student @_LeslieSpencer_ is working to understand trade offs between pollinators and pests.
