I finished up maybe my final refurbishing project of the year yesterday. I repaired the draw, sanded everything down to 220 grit, a light coat of golden oak stain, finally a coat of poly. Lined the inside areas with green felt.

Ozzy fell in love with this tree branch and decided to carry it home and naw on it on the front lawn.

Just about the end stages of another Summer project. My granddaughter got a very old chair that was falling apart. I took it apart, sanded everything, then glued it back together. Chestnut stain and a few coats of polyurethane, now it’s ready to go to the reupholster.

I priced a hard bottom dog hammock for my truck then decided I could build my own cheeper and better quality. Half inch plywood, carpet padding and indoor/outdoor carpeting. There are 4 sections that can be removed completely in less than 3 minutes. Ozzy loves it!

Ozzy and I go to the dog park around 6:45 every morning. It’s nice and quiet. I rake the pea gravel in the pen, wash the water bowls, and flush out the pools. It’s a good workout. Ozzy chases his herding ball while I work. It’s my way of giving back. Took these this morning.

Finished up another of my Summer projects. Twelve sets of shutters hadn’t been painted in years. Taking them off was a project in itself! I used the 3 color scheme as on the garage door. Replaced all the mounting hardware during re-installation.

I finished up one of my Summer projects today. We had a very pedestrian garage door. I painted the door frame crimson, the main door ruby, and the window trim black. Now, I’ve started removing eleven sets of shutters to pressure wash and repaint.

Today is Ozzy’s second birthday. A rescue from Georgia, he’s embraced our Maine Winters. Daily trips to the dog park, walks in the woods, his nightly pup cups and belly rubs round out day. He has nothing, but he’s given us everything!

Today is National Lighthouse Day. Maine has sixty-five truly spectacular lighthouses. There is something special visiting a working lighthouse at night. But, they’re equally special during the day. Post your lighthouse pictures too.

Ozzy and I went on a nice, long walk last evening. Crystal clear with just enough breeze to keep the “skeeters” at bay. He loves jumping in the tall grass and wildflowers. A full moonrise was an added bonus.

Yesterday was a perfect day to explore more of Maine. We went to Cabbage Island for a traditional Down East lobster bake. It was fabulous! Took some great pictures along the way from Boothbay Harbor and on the island.

Today is the 37th anniversary of my 35th birthday. July 13th would have been my Dad’s 97th birthday. He passed in 1986. Miss you Dad.
