A couple of Canada’s activist judges just got busted by journalist Jamie Sarkonak @sarkonakj for some particularly gross views of hard drugs and two-tiered racial views of defendants. - B.C. judge Catherine Murray decided she would praise two hard-drug traffickers, and invent a Charter right to deal those drugs. - Ontario judge Faizal Mirza thought the law should have a race-tiered application in sentencing Canadians, then deployed it. Disgusting ideas. Thankfully not Canadian law. So when these activist judges tried to impose them, Jamie called them out. Great journalism. But then the “Advocates Society” wrote a letter to defend the judges. They made two points and both backfire: First, these judges “make their decisions on the facts and the law – not popular opinion or political expediency.” Second, journalists “vilifying judges who make unpopular opinions or demanding their removal is not accountability. It’s pressure.” Nice try. First, these activist judges didn’t apply facts or the law. They applied personal views not found in Canadian law. Second, calling them out and demanding their removal isn’t ’vilifying’, its asserting a democratic fact: activists don’t get to hi-jack the bench to impose drug dealing and two-tier race screens that Canadians haven’t consented to through legislation. If Catherine and Faizal wish their weird views were the law, they can resign and try to get a legislature to agree. That’s what politics is for. But thats not how jurisprudence work. Activists don’t get to hi-jack the bench for their personal ends just because they sit on it. The Advocates Society knows this. Great journalism by Jamie @sarkonakj defending Canada from activist judges whose bizarre ideas make everyone less safe and less equal before the law.
It has come to my attention that I have been denounced by @Advocates_Soc for criticizing judicial decisions — and yes, individual judges. Here's the thing. When someone, for example, spends her lawyerly career writing op-eds in favour of migration and calling herself an activist, and then becomes a federal judge, and from that seat allows all sorts of undesirables to remain in Canada on weak grounds, people are free to draw a connection from A to B. When a judge, for example, spends his lawyer years advocating fiercely for more race-based law, and then later throws out gun charges of black men on his (unsupported) assertion that police were racist during their arrests, people are free to question whether he's really a fair adjudicator. When a judge, for example, says that a ban on drug trafficking is unconstitutional, and then *applauds* vigilante drug dealers for their self-proclaimed safe supply program — applauds them for supporting the business of organized crime and feeding the addictions of street people — that's beyond the pale. You're worried about democracy being poisoned? Worry about the judge who threw out Parliament's law against selling heroin because she felt it was "common sense" that it was supported by science. I agree that it's not right to criticize a judge personally for impartially applying the law and coming to an unpopular decision (which they may even privately disagree with). But when their professional history, or their conduct in court, suggests allegiance to a cause that they happen to be ruling softly on, it will get noticed. Bringing the administration of justice into disrepute is a two-way street, you know.

I believe this is the third anniversary of the Hamas terror attacks on Israel which led to the war in Gaza. Headlines like this are one reason Postmedia pulled out of Canadian Press. A skewed vision, unreliable copy.

Jamie is fearless in calling out judges. Read her work. That said, what's a guy gotta do to get a letter like this? I'd frame it.

They’ve been drinking from the same decade-long tainted climate narrative that was proven to be incorrect with even the IEA’s Fatih Birol admitting his peak oil mantra was misleading
Assistant professor Sarah Sharma told CBC the West Coast pipeline fails on economics because the IEA says oil demand is “slowing.” That is half a citation IEA World Energy Outlook 2025 restored the Current Policies Scenario the agency had dropped after 2020. In it, oil demand rises from about 100 million barrels a day in 2024 to 105 million in 2035 and 113 million by 2050. No peak. Even the Stated Policies case only flattens near 102 million around 2030. India’s oil use still climbs from 5.4 million to about 7.4 million by 2035 in that scenario. “Slowing growth” is not “no market.” Her Sinopec line is real: in August 2026 the chairman said China’s demand very likely peaked in 2025. One refiner’s call, made in a price spike, is not the global balance. And Europe’s documented ask is for Canadian LNG — Uniper’s 20-year deal, SEFE, France — not a reason to pretend Asian crude demand has vanished Selective facts do not give a realistic picture. She is a climate-governance political economist, not a market forecaster. CBC put her on to judge the economic case. She answered with the IEA number that fit and left out the one that mattered most

I’m surprised, and not a little disheartened, that this is not the dominant topic of conversation in Canada today. We have troops in Latvia. If this all kicks off - and the Russians are said to be building military hospitals - we are at war.
We all have difficult weeks and months ahead of us. Today, in Ukraine, we are showing our solidarity.

Poland is an indispensable NATO Ally. Canada is investing in its defence, building its industrial base and deepening partnerships with Allies who are moving as fast as we are. Together, we are building a stronger and more secure transatlantic Alliance. 🇨🇦🇵🇱 2/2

Every @CBCNews employee should visit @Sept11Memorial in NYC which exhaustively documents the precise movements and activities of the terrorists leading up to the attack. And then @CBC management should apologize for its insensitivity and intellectual dishonesty. #September11 @CdnHeritage @MarcMillerVM @PresidentCBCRC @FBIDirectorKash
Any agency in Canada that doesn’t publicly reject this bastardization of history, and an insult to the souls lost during our largest terrorist attack in US history will no longer have friend in this FBI… Not to mention our heroes that responded in the aftermath 🇺🇸 WE WILL NEVER FORGET 9-11 foxnews.com/media/cbc-tells-…

In light of the CBC News’ grotesque rewriting of history, which insults the memories of all who died that day and all who sacrificed in Canada’s longest war since Korea, I expect a full throated condemnation by our Prime Minister, as as well as an expectation that he treat CBC News leadership with the same level of contempt and issue the same threats of committee hearings that he levelled at the former CEO of Air Canada, following his unilingual misstep after the accident at LaGuardia that killed two Air Canada pilots. @CBCNews @cbc @MarkJCarney

I've been challenged as well that this is not a real memo from CBC. It very much is. The instructions to CBC journalists is that they cannot call 9/11 a terrorist attack as we approach the 25th anniversary.
Bit irritated by suggestions by some that this isn't authentic. It's authentic. And, for anyone who has been paying attention (or read my book), they'd actually know this is quite consistent with past CBC approaches.

If true - someone is going to have to explain this to Canadians, defend this directive and why Canadian tax dollars should be paying for this kind of mockery and insult to the victims of 9/11. But first - we need to see the memo.
CBC can't get anymore ridiculous right? New memo tells CBC journalists not to call 9/11 a terrorist attack. What do you think of this? torontosun.com/opinion/colum…

Imagine being so close to a deal and then performing a stunt like this. This is political grandstanding at its worst. Politicians sure feel comfortable now a days telling people what they should be doing and how they should be feeling. But I think the most worrying part is how many people listen to rhetoric like this and happily comply.
