I will be testifying before the @uscpsc to discuss the lithium-ion battery crisis. There have been 131 lithium-ion battery fires this year, causing 76 injuries, 13 deaths. It is now the 2nd leading cause of fire deaths in NYC. It is a threat to New Yorkers and our #FDNY members.

The fire service is not seeing the large numbers of applicants we used to. I get it. But that doesn’t mean we should lower the bar, or settle for mediocrity, incompetence, or just anyone just to check the box & fill the slots. Not everyone is meant for every line of work.
