Since I don’t possess footage of @WGHFootbal’s pair of matchups against Toledo Scott from the 1980 & 1981 seasons, every “throwback play of the day” this week will feature moments against schools from the city of Toledo. With that being said, we’ll go back to a trio of moments from Harding’s matchup against Whitmer High School on 09/20/2002. On a night when nothing could go wrong for Harding, junior tailback @Richarddavis31 scored on not 1, not 2, but 3 touchdown runs (distances of 5, 12, and 51 yards, respectively). He finished the contest with nine carries for 94 yards and three touchdowns in the Raiders’ 71-0 rout of Whitmer. Today, Davis serves as the head football coach of Scott High School. This Friday will mark Harding’s first matchup against Scott since 1981.

My official game preview for this Friday's matchup between @WGHFootball & Toledo Scott is now available for view. In liue of a collage of legends that I usually make for both teams, this week's background image features '04 Harding alum @Richarddavis31, who currently serves as the head football coach for Scott. wghfootball.com/post/week-6-…

With @WGHFootball’s season opener against Canton McKinley taking place tonight at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium, every “throwback play of the day” this week has featured moments against the Bulldogs. With that being said, today’s entry comes from their matchup on 10/12/2002. Up 21-7 in the 2nd quarter, Harding junior tailback @Richarddavis31 dashes up the field and makes two cuts without breaking stride as he crosses the goal line for an 80-yard touchdown run for his third score of the game. His monster night consisted of 15 carries for 151 yards and three touchdowns as the Raiders rolled in Fawcett Stadium by the final score of 38-7. Today, Davis is the head football coach for Toledo Scott High School, who will square off with Harding on 09/26/2026. It will be a full circle moment for one of the most dominant running backs to ever put on a Raider uniform as back then, his position coach was none other than current Harding head coach @sirtrich. To date, here’s how Davis’ numbers at Harding stack up in school history… -4th in career rushing touchdowns… 39 from 2001-03 -5th (tie) in rushing touchdowns in a single season… 21 in 2003 (tied with Lynn Bowden- 2015) -6th career rushing yards … 2,515 from 2001-03 -9th in rushing yards in a single season… 1,448 in 2002 In addition to football, Davis also doubles up as the head coach of Scott’s track & field program.
