Only 72% of maths teachers were recruited last year. 🤔 Time for some maths lessons for the government:
➖ Experienced teachers leaving and few coming in.
➕ An unfunded 2.8% pay rise.
≡ ✂️ More cuts to staff and resources or both.
Send a message to the government: #FundFairPay and #SaveOurSchools

A report is released today from @TeachFirst that shows how schools are dipping into budgets to provide basic items to the most deprived children, like food/sanitary wear/uniform. Matching 2015/16 levels for the pupil premium in the #budget would help.

Finishing off required practical 10 today by measuring the melting points of our aspirin. I find students struggle to answer questions on this type of practical in the exam. Trying to push a more minds on approach as seen in amzn.eu/d/9OeG9vs
I find this shocking, who are the 5% of teachers who prefer less PPA? I can’t wait to see the breakdown in this @TeacherTapp

Teaching some topics in science can be hard, climate change, evolution, reproduction, can all be influenced by outside factors. Don’t worry, there is a chapter on how to deal with these controversial topics in Secondary Science in Action from @JohnCattEd amzn.eu/d/gQxDaZT
