Given @elonmusk increasingly bizarre and erratic verbal attacks on our country, our political leaders and our ability to determine our future independent from outside interests, I have no option but to suspend this account. I can be found in a place where the sky is bluer.

𝗔 𝗗𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗮 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿 A New Zealand police officer, Senior Sergeant Lyn Fleming, was tragically killed on New Year’s Day while simply doing her job. She was deliberately run down while out on patrol, a senseless act that also left one of her colleagues critically injured. Imagine starting the year with a routine shift and never making it home. This is the brutal reality of the job some people choose to do—for us. Meanwhile, in London, chaos unfolded on Oxford Street. A man suffered a severe attack, reportedly with a machete, leaving emergency services scrambling to save his life. While this poor man fought for survival, officers on the scene dealt with the carnage and panic of a packed New Year’s crowd. They stood in the firing line, not knowing what dangers they might face next but still stepping forward because that’s what they do. And across the Atlantic in New Orleans, another horrific incident. Ten people were killed when a driver deliberately ploughed into a crowd, injuring dozens more, including two police officers who were shot while responding. These attacks are becoming alarmingly frequent. Nobody can be alert 24/7, but please, always try to stay aware of your surroundings—it could save your life. Closer to home, we know scores of UK officers will have woken up today nursing injuries from last night. Maybe not from targeted attacks like those above, but from the usual New Year’s chaos: drunkards, brawlers, and troublemakers who think the thin blue line is there for target practice. To all of you who wore the uniform last night and went out to keep us safe: we take our hats off to you. And if you ever wake up wondering, why do I do this?—remember this: if not you, who? We need people like you—heroes—to stand firm on thay thing we all call the Thin Blue Line, keeping us safe from the worst society has to offer. Stay safe out there and look out for each other. 💙

A recent response to FOI : ‘How many escalators are out now?’ 👇 You only have to check MQT going back to 2014 to see TFL have been ignoring the issues for too long. Year in, year out, TfL excluded Cutty Sark DLR from the budget. #AndyLord

Eastern end of Old Dover Road and Shooters Hill Road both closed to traffic.
Another horrendous collision junction of Shooters hill rd and Old Dover rd . So many Drivers on shooters hill rd reacting by behaving like utter jerks while typing away on their mobiles .. sickening

Hi @Royal_Greenwich - driving northbound on A102 yesterday @googlemaps sav nav advised to leave at Blackwall Lane and rejoin A102 on opposite slip road. Not only an illegal manoeuvre but adds to pollution and congestion on local roads. Maybe let them know drivers can’t do that.

Our incredible volunteer crew will be on call 24/7 over the Christmas period. They're always ready to go - whether they're mid cracker-pull, or halfway through a mince pie or the Gavin and Stacey Christmas Special. Thank you all for everything you do 🧡
A little reminder of our operating hours this festive period. @RNLI

Justice can take time to be delivered; we should be grateful to those who work on our behalf to deliver it.
The CPS has charged two men with assaults on police officers following an incident at Manchester Airport earlier this year. Mohammed Amaaz, 20, and Muhammed Amaad, 25, will appear at Liverpool Magistrates’ Court on 16 January, 2025. Read more: orlo.uk/vC1Po

Imagine if we could encourage people to drive private cars less and use public transport and active travel more. We’d have safer, cleaner and less polluted streets and a healthier population (Greenwich 9.25am today, light Christmas traffic)

Within this small area, we have three overground train stations, two DLR stations (one with broken escalators), numerous bus routes, foot tunnel (often broken lifts), strategic cycle route, other cycle routes, and the pier for boat services into London.

Greenwich traffic 3.40pm today Modal filters operational for 40 mins so no queue of traffic joining from Vanbrugh Hill. Trafalgar Road and Woolwich Road sides of the junction showing reasonably free flowing traffic. Just a snapshot.

Another step forward to restoring my sanity. Switched off Twitter notifications! 🙂 They are mostly quite grim based on Musk’s hatred fuelled algorithms.

Greenwich traffic 4.25pm today. Surprisingly, A102 is free flowing southbound. No signs of any traffic displacement further east to Charlton. Modal filters have been operational since 3pm. It’s just a snapshot.

Might people be starting to adapt to the changes? Seeing less posts on SM about fear of gridlocked streets. Signage is being improved. No rush to implementing the enforcement phase. Already high compliance. Not much interest in donating to a legal challenge fund.

Found this interesting. 5pm today. No queue of cars cutting through West Greenwich to rejoin A2 at the top of Hyde Vale. As a result, eastbound traffic on A2 is more free flowing past the junction. Just a snapshot.
