This is the old Euro Dollar pit which is now SOFR in the early 90’s. I was an arb clerk in the bottom left of this pic, all clerks wore yellow jackets. Brokers & traders were on the inside of the pit. Arb clerks quoted bid/offers & took orders from the banks all communicating through hand signals. That is how I earned my way into this business. When other clerks partied & stayed out late, I went to bed. If I wanted a shot at being a trader I had to stand out among the 1,000’s of clerks I had to be exceptional.

I don’t usually prescribe street preaching as a must for ALL preachers—but when it comes to celebrity preachers, I would.
When you live in a bubble filled with selfies, autographs, and applause, it’s easy to lose touch with reality. That’s why street preaching can be such an effective tonic. There’s nothing like spit, scoffing, and the constant run-in with the police to keep a person grounded.
Celebrity preacher—go to the streets. Get pelted with dirt and rocks. Get cussed out by an angry “intellectual.” It’s the equivalent of touching grass. Not only would Christ be preached, but your own soul would be refreshed and humbled as well.

This is the Salomon Brothers trading floor where I worked (as did Josh Mandell) in the 80s/90s. There will probably never be anything quite like it.
It was the nervous system of the US bond market. We had one in London and Tokyo as well, but the energy of NY was unmatched.
Just like working in person beats working at home, the power of that hive was intense. Getting a spot on that floor was brutal. Keeping it was darwinian. You had to deliver, or you were out. No. questions asked.
