Replying to @misswhynowhy
90% of these jokes are the crew making each other laugh, the audience getting something out of it is incidental

Partially related, but I’m genuinely kind of baffled how much scarier Captain Clark looks in behind the scenes photos then in the actual movie, I mean he’s very scary in the movie but like when you’re looking at these photos, he looks genuinely terrifying like???

There’s a whole class of people who continuously find themselves in situations like this, situations completely unknown to normal well adjusted people, and at no point do they consider they had a hand in creating the situation. I’ve referred to it before as the cloud of chaos. They’re constantly being cheated on, arrested, yelled at, fired, have health issues, being evicted, just an endless stream of interpersonal drama. They insist it’s never their fault.

Trying to remember if "at the time, there were lots of disgruntled, armed ex-soldiers who blamed the Jews for getting their country into a disastrous war" is a good or bad start to a chapter of diaspora history
This image was sent to me from the field. These are messages US servicemen in the Persian Gulf have scribbled on the dust of an aircraft flap.
"Be a good guy and do what Israel tells you to"
"Operation Epstein Fury"
"Peace deal #64 incoming... ALL THIS FOR THE HOLY LAND"
I have no frame of reference, I can't compare it to the sentiments of US soldiers in previous conflicts. But I suspect these are new sentiments, or at least a new willingness to express them this openly and directly.
But as one serviceman told me: "What people in the media don't understand when they compare past conflicts to this one, is this operation has no morale behind it. That makes a world of difference to service members deployed to undesirable locations indefinitely."
Read that last part again: No morale. Deployed to undesirable locations INDEFINITELY.
My own conclusion: When a war has no morale behind it, winning means that you simply end it. There is no other "winning" in such an unjust war.

if a known alcoholic is taking time first thing every morning to chat excitedly with junior staff thats not the best sign
I can’t begin to describe how awesome it is to have a Secretary of War who tells his staff every day to “keep going.”
Most people in his position would hardly speak to their staff and walk straight to their office.
I also have a friend who works at the Pentagon who says Secretary Hegseth always comes down the hall to ask how she and everyone is doing.
Having a leader who truly cares makes a difference!

Conservatives love our troops until they stop asking to be treated like shit, at which point they conservatives will attack those troops and their families. Conservatism is a personality disorder LARPing as a political identity and Im tired of pretending it isnt.

I hate this retcon. The movie Saga was made for young adults. 16-25. Star Wars only became media for children with the Clone Wars TV show. The guy behind TCW is now in charge of Lucasfilm, so childslop is the only option on the menu now.
Tell me with a striaght face that trade lane blocades and senatorial debate was made for 12 year olds. The target audience of A New Hope were people Luke Skywalker's age.
