Jinn Hunter Arjet. My OC & MC of a story I'm writing. Travelling the galaxy in search of answers, his true goal is to find a way to save the Jinn rather than banish them. His power allows him to generate magic sand that can change shape into weapons.

While doing one of the early missions I noticed that Theve in Ace Combat 8 is based on Toronto! It has a CN Tower look-alike overlooking the train track I use to go to work, and the exact same island formation offshore from the downtown area. Guess the FCU is Strangereal Canada😄
Decided to clean up my rant from earlier into something a bit more cohesive, fixed the typos, and added some vid example of the things I was talking about.

Seeing the rebuttals and rhetoric flying around this opinion has been pissing me off. Twitter word count is too short for this topic so i wrote an aimless rant about the stun system and skill ceiling of RE4/4R/Requiem. I hope its coherent enough lol

Less reliable headshot stun puts pressure on you to use more weapons. Their value goes up. It's a good thing you can't just pop everyone with 1 TMP round and then go kick everyone with an i-frame roundhouse.
I created a mod to buff Bloodbath Diablos' head and horn hitzones to match the sever hitzones and make the fight much more enjoyable for blunt weapons (imo)
Now I can finally clear EX Bloodbath with Hammer.... gamebanana.com/mods/638456

The problem with Ninja Gaiden 4 isn't that it plays wrong, nor that combos are braindead. Because they aren't. NG4's structure is perfectly coherent, achieving Ninja-Gaiden-like combat, and combos often have to be changed for various reasons.
The real problem is 'how' NG4 achieves that coherence. NG2's small enemies—especially the spider ninja—circle you while throwing bombs and dodging. And when they want to attack—unless you are already within grab range—they close the gap first, and then start the attack animation, which is too fast to react.
So basically you have to make decisions out of their movement and positioning, and execute your plan preemptively.
In NG4, by contrast, most enemies are so static they hardly move even in MN; and when they try to attack, they just start straight into the animation without closing the distance. Because the player can literally disengage from anything at any time and state with overpowered movement, enemies won't ever touch you unless they have insane tracking—which is why they do.
So you are not reading their movements or positioning. Rather, you are either just reacting instantly to each attack, or constantly disengaging from the whole situation keeping enemies static.
This kind of game design heavily de-emphasizes positioning. Your overall positioning still vaguely matters and crowd control is important(or even too easy because of how throws work now), but its importance is fragemented into individual engagements. There is no genuine 'checkmate' state, where your previous bad choices lead to.
This turns the game into kind of a string of mini-games. You are just reacting to each mini-game(or tracking attacks) rather than playing a single unified combat.
Hunting HR Rajang and FU and this happened lmao???
I'm glad they accounted for it at least
(ft. a friend's commentary)
The 2nd encounter with Sol Titanion is my fav boss concept in a while. Being in the yellow areas increases the percentage until it burns you at 100, so how you avoid attacks is restricted by needing to minimize the time spent in the heat and route around returning to the shade.
They got a Solid Snake expy as a boss in this bro fights like his smash ver with the nikita missiles, mortar, and the side rolls. Crazy fun fight, def one of the highlights of Zero 4
its crazy to how brazen it is that they will list every single thing that the deflect does for you that circumvents every weakness guarding is meant to have. Our parry does your taxes, walks your dog, and washes your dishes and this is apparently good design now :/
Samurai Style Exclusive Action: Deflect
Time your guard just before an enemy strike to trigger Deflect. It restores Ki, refills your Arts & Ninjutsu Gauges, and lets you block without breaking a sweat. Master it, to take your defense to whole new level.
