The guy in charge of the ballots in Champaign County, Illinois is under federal indictment. He's also on the ballot. Clerk Aaron Ammons is charged with obstruction for allegedly helping cover for his wife, a Democrat state rep facing eight counts of wire fraud. He asked to push his own federal trial to December so he could run this election, and he got it. So how's that going? His office mailed more than 600 ballots with the wrong state House races on them. Early voting got shut down, and a lot of voters found out when they showed up. 28 people already voted on bad ballots, and those votes can't be fixed. One of the races they botched is a seat the Republican won by 269 votes last time. His wife's district got scrambled too. This is the same office that blamed a "cyberattack" in 2022, had an outage on Election Day 2024, and printed a GOP candidate's name as "Tad." Congress gave him until Friday to explain himself.
