Setting a stop is the most important task in trading. It’s also the hardest. The common cop-out is focusing on fundamentals and valuation and treating price action as just noise to ignore. That thinking turns small, manageable losses into portfolio-crushing mistakes. pro.thestreet.com/market-com…

$XERS has excellent price action again and is testing highs. No news here, but I think the market is realizing the future is bright.

My stock of the week for October 19 is live and that has been forming an ascending triangle just under post-IPO highs and the pullback towards the 50-day moving average could be offering an attractive entry point in a stock that could be building cause for a break to fresh highs. The upcoming election is looking like a disaster for Republicans, and the irony is that the Dems have historically terrible candidates and policies. The focus is on voting against Trump above all else. What is going on in France should be a clear warning of what happens when you move further left, but many voters just don't care. The Republicans get the blame whether they deserve it or not.

No one can tell me a single Democratic policy that will improve the economy. What exactly are they going to do to lower the cost of living and fix inflation? Tax the rich?

I am, on a rare occasion, not with you on this one. In a normal year I think this is correct, but the Republicans who are a soup sandwich going into this election are Blessed by a void of credible opposition.

Set the Damn Stops! Setting a stop is the most important task in trading. Actually using them is the hardest. Everyone agrees that cutting losses is the most important rule in trading. Almost nobody does it well. pro.thestreet.com/market-com…

Maybe I should start calling myself Dr DePorre. A person who holds a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree can use the title “Doctor.” The J.D. is a professional doctorate (literally “Doctor of Law” or “Doctor of Jurisprudence”), in the same broad category as an M.D. or D.D.S., even though it is not a research doctorate like a Ph.D.
Because Dr. Jill Biden has an actual doctorate in education. Katie Zacharia failed her bar exam, so she isn’t a licensed attorney. Hope this helps!

The political views of @elonmusk are dark? I guess eliminating waste and fraud is 'dark' if you are benefiting from screwing taxpayers.
🚨WALTER ISAACSON: “Musk is a better engineer & product person than he is at politics. His politics can get dark & inflame people, which can blind them to his achievements in electric vehicles, bringing astronauts home from the space station & building rockets that land upright.”

The most interesting thing about the market right now is that a large percentage of stocks are already in a bear market but the media focuses on the indices and fails to recognize how bad it has been. This past week we finally had some breakdowns in the AI names that have been driving the indices and we are suddenly getting a more emotional reaction. This is what we have needed for a while to deal with the severe disparity between a few AI leaders and most everything else. I don't know how this will evolve but I do know that it is going to create some great opportunities for stock pickers who find new emerging leadership.
IBD was fooled by the strength in the indices and kept its market exposure way too high. They were fully long on Tuesday. "Friday's selling prompted another downgrade of IBD's recommended stock market exposure to 40%-60%. The move comes after IBD cut exposure Wednesday to 60%-80%
