We are safer with all of these people home. And as you can tell from Margarita, being home means everything to these families.

While this success had a million authors, we want to thank all of our partners for their role in securing so many releases. To us, these releases are not just numbers, they are people. People like Quentin, Damian, Ernest, Lynn, Margarita, and many more.

After many lawsuits & fed probe into prison conditions, Alabama will incur costs of inaction. Now slated 2 spend $1 billion addressing prison crisis & MS may follow. It’s not too late 4 MS 2 avoid this if lawmakers act now 2 reduce its dense population @jamalhbryant @CPR_MS

Paul Houser was sentenced to 60 yrs in prison for a drug crime. One of his prior offenses was a 20 yr old marijuana conviction. Families are counting on the #msleg to ensure that #HB1024 extends parole eligibility to their loved ones in prison serving extreme habitual sentences.
We need U 2 call MS legislators again & urge them 2 act NOW & look hard at bad conditions in MS prisons & outdated, extreme sentencing laws driving MS high prison population & theyre clearly not working 2 protect MS on either side of walls. fwd.us/CALLmississippi

The NFL had no business running him out of the league for brining awareness to police brutality. Right wingers turned it around to make him look unpatriotic. That was wrong and disgusting. The NFL and the right needs to apologize to Kaepernick.

Mississippi failure to address #COVID19 behind bars directly impacts our ability to #flattenthecurve. There are over 205,000 admissions to jails each week. Reducing jail populations will help keep us all safer. #stopcovid19injails

MS Criminal justice officials should take immediate action 2 advance policies that will curtail the number of people entering facilities & add 2 the number of people released from them. Policies should include reductions in arrest, charges & sentencing #StopCovidinPrisons

Habitual laws add extra years, decades, even life imprisonment to prison sentences if a person has been convicted of crimes in the past. These laws directly contribute to Mississippi having the third-highest imprisonment rate in the country. #WeAllPay xitter.cf/FWDus/status/121533384…
The recent deaths in prisons across Mississippi are tragic and were completely avoidable. Mississippi prisons are in need of urgent reform to create safer and more humane conditions for those who live and work in the state’s deteriorating prisons. Learn more from a @FWDus video:
Failed policies like extreme sentences are directly responsible for a prison population so large that the state is unable to safely house and supervise the 20,000+ people in its care and custody. Thus the crisis in Mississippi Prisons currently!
