Bo, you don’t know America. Your xenophobic hate toward South Asian students is disgraceful and part of a broader rise in attacks targeting South Asian Americans across the country. These young people were cheering for their university, and you chose to demonize them based solely on how they look. South Asian Americans are as American as anyone, and this kind of hatred has no place in our politics or our country.

This is racist. It is wrong. And I condemn it without reservation. There is absolutely nothing Christian or conservative about looking at a crowd of young Texans at a college football game, seeing the color of their skin, and declaring that they are a “problem.” These are 20-year-old kids cheering for their university—not political props and not targets for racial attacks. We can have serious debates about our nation’s immigration laws. I have strong views about immigration policy, and Americans have every right to demand changes to federal law. But opposing an immigration policy does not give anyone license to demean people because of their race or ethnicity. And let’s be clear: the Texas Railroad Commission regulates our oil and gas industry. It does not set federal immigration policy. Texans deserve Railroad Commissioners focused on the responsibilities of that office—not using a statewide campaign as a platform for racial division. This does not represent my Christian faith. It does not represent my conservative principles. And it does not represent the Republican Party I believe in. As a Texas Aggie, I’m always happy to take a friendly shot at the Longhorns when the opportunity presents itself. That rivalry is part of what makes these two great universities so special. But this goes far beyond college rivalry. We should be willing to call racism wrong no matter who says it, what party they belong to, or how politically inconvenient it may be. This is wrong, and I want no part of it.

I was pretty starry eyed when I moved to LA. Did all the LA things. LA seemed magical at first. Get paid to act, do photoshoots, hang out on films sets, all that. I made sure to do everything safe. Live in the very safe Sawtelle, Santa Monica. Always hang out in groups and never go out at night by yourself. Nothing could possibly happen to me. Then I got attacked in broad daylight by a drug addict. Within 20 seconds of walking outside. The same stabbing motion that Iryna was attacked like. Except my attacker went for my arm instead of my neck. LA leadership has failed us all. Karen Bass want's to buy drug addicts new teeth. But lets not worry about the poor man stabbed to death at the train station for no reason. No matter how safe you think you are in LA, you aren't. LA is Gotham. It's actually worse than Gotham because you can get attacked in broad daylight. Unlike the comics where every bad thing happens in the shadows at night. Gotham has crime hidden by the night. LA is unashamed. 911 doesn't pick up. LA leadership doesn't take responsibilty. They've turned the once glamorous LA into a third world country. The only reason people visit was because of its reputation from decades ago. It's not the same now. It won't ever be.
