The following was all released in 2007, the same year Halo 3 (script looked over by Joe Staten the lead writer) concluded and Joseph Staten’s book Contact Harvest released. A page straight out of Joseph Staten’s book Contact Harvest which contains a plot point that’s very important to the Human/Covenant war itself. A plot point that not only shows up in the games but is continued for the book Contact Harvest. The book contains so much lore that you could very much say it’s just as important, if not moreso than Halo: The Fall of Reach. Even 343 has used the contents for Halo 2A’s terminals since it has the complete lore for about every species of the Covenant AND more. I’ll be sure to attach Regret’s quote from Halo 2 below the post in case you believe that games out of the picture (storyboards unrelated because I’m using content from in game to provide further evidence despite it being that obvious). Above all, the following information makes Halo’s story even better considering the fact that the Covenant has essentially been killing their own gods while the Prophets were aware. And it’s far from cliche, in fact making Chief lucky due to the Librarian’s geneseed (Destiny essentially) and making alien forerunners hate humans for being human is far more cliche. The only portion of media I can virtually think of that involves humans being direct descendants of an ancient alien world, movement, etcetra is Stargate. And I’ve seen alot of movies and played a ton of games from all of the main gaming platforms. And honestly, if you simply agree the lore exists and say you comprehend it but appreciate 343’s more, then there would be far less debates and arguments than there should be. We don’t agree with the new lore because despite humanity being revealed as Forerunners, the mystery still remained. And then pandoras box was opened with 4 and has been remained so ever since. Before 4 we knew nothing about their society, how it worked, who the leaders were, yadayadayada. Sometimes things are just better left in the dark. That being said, I’d even agree with everything being kept a secret to ensure mystery like Marcus Lehto wished for. But like I said, the lore just further improves the Covenant war and story that much more. Please keep this in mind and think about that.
