I do not exclusively listen to VGM, however I do listen to instrumental music as a whole way more frequently, like film scores and VGM too ofc. For me, most of my comfort in music is not lyrical content but the movements and mood portrayed by the composition itself.

Joking aside, I’ve accepted that many people will never appreciate CD. The ones who act disingenuous and refuse to understand people who love it and that that love is genuine were never going to understand its appeal and that’s ok. It’s genuinely their loss.

Maybe that sounds pretentious, but for a game that means everything to me, I’d rather not waste sharing that experience with people who won’t engage honestly with you. It’s better saved for people who are open minded, even if it doesn’t end up clicking with them.

you don't need to be a therapist to show up for people/authentically be there for them at their most vulnerable. the mystification of therapy has been so so so very harmful in that it gives people an excuse to not even try to be there for their depressed/suicidal loved ones.
