The NHS is now paying people to walk. 20-30 mins a day, tracked digitally, rewarded for hitting it. Sounds like a gimmick. It's actually one of the smartest things they've done in years. Physical inactivity costs the NHS £1bn a year - before you count the heart disease and diabetes that follow. Prevention is where the real savings are. But prevention has always had a funding problem. The person doing the healthy thing creates value for everyone except themselves. The NHS saves money. Employers get healthier staff. Insurers cut risk. The person who walked gets nothing. Paying them directly fixes that. I built an on this exact model. @Restify_App paid people to reduce screen time - verified phone-free sessions, real value back to users. In a few months: 15k+ accounts 100m+ minutes of phone-free time 250k detox sessions $30k+ paid out to users People change behaviour when the incentive is real and the friction is low. We watched it happen daily. The NHS won't build the world's most engaging health app. It doesn't need to. It needs to back the ecosystems that will. This was the premise behind VeBetterDAO built by @vechainofficial, creating an ecosystem that rewards positive behaviour and tackles societies largest problems in decentralised manner. Huge props to @sunshinelu24 for a vison that is well ahead of its time. Walking is the start. The same model works anywhere one person's action creates value for everyone else. And most of society's most expensive problems look exactly like that.

They say don't meet your heroes, for fear they never live up to your expectations. Not long ago I was studying textbooks with Peter Corke's name on the cover. A leader across so much of what modern robotics is built on. Having him on the podcast was an absolute privilege. He is every bit as insightful and passionate as I'd hoped. After two years, VeChain and I have parted ways and I’m now a free agent (of sorts). It’s been a defining chapter of my career. I loved the work, the pace, and the people, and I’m proud of what we achieved together. Thank you to everyone I worked closely with along the way: Neil, Silvia, Hugh, Benjamin, Victor, Antonio, Jake, Siraj, Ignat, Anthony, Jake and of course Sunny Lu. It was a privilege working with you all. During my time at VeChain, we covered a lot of ground: supporting protocol upgrades, advancing Digital Product Passports (with the Rekord AG team), building network bridges (with Wanchain), shaping an agentic roadmap, and launching our own X2Earn dApp, Restify. So what’s next? I’m now working independently across AI, blockchain, and emerging technology, with several projects already underway. Over the past six years, I’ve designed, shipped, and operated real systems - not just explored ideas on slides. I now help teams do the same: figuring out where AI or blockchain actually fits, preparing products and organisations, and moving from experimentation to systems that run in the real world.
