The biggest issue with the Chargers? The owner’s son being employed as their President of Football Operations. The Chargers are the only franchise in the NFL to do so.
People will be fired. But until John Spanos loses his title, the Chargers will never capture real success.

John Spanos needs to be fired so fucking hard. Dean should come in and spank his ass in front of the fans just to show how sorry he is for this shit show. Then, sell the damn team and free us of your damn family curse. #SellTheTeam #Chargers

The most interesting part of Chargers-Seahawks wasn’t Herbert’s disastrous first half. It was what happened AFTER it.
1st half: 5/15, 36 yards, 2 INT.
Herbert looked completely disconnected from the offense - predetermined throws, bad timing, hesitation, throwing into occupied windows.
2nd half: 14/16, 153 yards, TD, 0 INT.
Suddenly he looked like Justin Herbert again.
That doesn’t happen by accident.
Something changed at halftime, whether it was McDaniel simplifying the pictures, changing route combinations/progressions, giving Herbert cleaner answers, Herbert adjusting his processing, or some combination of all of it.
And THAT is the film I want to see tomorrow.
Because maybe the lesson isn’t that Herbert needs to completely rewire himself to become Mike McDaniel’s QB.
Maybe McDaniel is learning too.
It’s McDaniel teaching Herbert anticipation and timing while simultaneously learning how to build those principles around Herbert’s ridiculous physical gifts.
Today might have been the first real glimpse of them meeting in the middle.

THEN throws flag before they hit the ground.

Sliding is not protection.
At no other point in life do we willingly hand responsibility for our safety to somebody else simply because there’s a rule telling them how they’re supposed to behave.
So why do we teach quarterbacks to do it?
When you slide, you’re trusting a defender running full speed, in the middle of competition, to perfectly control his body because the rulebook says he should.
Take control of your own safety.
Learn to attack defender halves.
Understand leverage. Choose which half of the defender you’re attacking. Get your body out of the direct collision path and create glancing blows instead of square contact.
Done correctly, you accomplish two things:
Protect yourself by avoiding direct, violent collisions.
Steal additional yards every time you finish a run.
This isn’t about being reckless. It’s the opposite.
It’s teaching quarterbacks how to control the contact instead of hoping the defender does it for them.
Don’t surrender your safety to the rulebook. Learn how to protect yourself.

This is why these "dirty" hits on qbs sliding last second happen
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
This is Kenny Pickett's fake-slide play from the 2021 ACC Championship. The NCAA closed this loophole days later, and in 2022 formalized the "Kenny Pickett Rule": any ball carrier who fakes a feet-first slide is ruled down at that spot in college football. web.archive.org/web/2026032203… si.com/college/2022/0…

Danny: “So is Joe Alt, bro.”

It is NOT Chargering.
It is NOT bad luck.
The common denominator of these 4 injuries was that below average players like Zion (twice), Pipkins, and Awosika couldn’t sustain their blocks, and as a last measure, they toss/push their assignments to the ground. The victims are the legs of nearby good players.
Note that these injuries do not happen in the opposite direction because good players like Alt or Slater hold their blocks rather than toss them to the legs of nearby players.
None of these injuries would have happened had Hortiz signed above average guards and swing tackles. That is, players that can actually do their job and hold the block one extra second.
🚨 The Chargers’ offensive line injury history since 2025 is INSANE:
2025
• 8/7 — Rashawn Slater: Torn patellar tendon, season-ending
• 9/28 — Joe Alt: High ankle injury, missed 3 games
• 11/2 — Joe Alt: Re-injured ankle, season-ending surgery
2026
• 8/18 — Tyler Biadasz: Major knee/leg injury, out indefinitely
