➡️On the world stage, China does not want World War III and Iran is not seeking a war with Israel. “It’s clearly seen by us that the Iranians are not keen that this should develop into a major confrontation between Iran and Israel.”
➡️“Intelligence chiefs have been playing a very, very important role in history of the world in the last 40, 50 years.” William Burns is “one of the most brilliant CIA chiefs in the history of the CIA.”

CDC is aware of and closely monitoring reports of a suspected case of pneumonic plague in the Irkutsk region of Russia that resulted in a death. We are working across the U.S. government to assess developments as additional information becomes available.
While the circumstances of this reported case remain unconfirmed, plague is a serious bacterial disease that is treatable with antibiotics, particularly when recognized and treated early.
Pneumonic plague can spread person-to-person through respiratory droplets during close contact, which is why rapid identification and treatment of infected individuals, and monitoring of potentially exposed individuals, are important public health measures.
At this time, there is no indication of a broader threat to the United States, but CDC and our interagency partners are prepared and will continue to monitor the situation closely.

🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯Wooow… now the FT is saying what I was saying in March about Hormuz, and what I said last year about Greenland — then repeated when I linked Greenland and Panama Canal and the Red Sea to Hormuz. @ErikSTownsend might recall all those discussions we had on @MacroVoices. My subscribers and all those attended my keynote speeches would remember all the details.
What I said then was extremely unpopular. Now it is mainstream.
Rana Foroohar argues in the FT article that Washington and Beijing are in a modern “Great Game,” like Britain and Russia in the 19th century. Both sides prefer to get to a territory, chokepoint or alliance first rather than fight each other directly. She calls this a “forward strategy”: it avoids outright war between the two powers, but it produces intrigues, minor battles and proxy fights.
In that frame she groups three flashpoints together: “The war in Ukraine, the weaponisation of the Strait of Hormuz and the simmering tensions over Taiwan are all part and parcel of the new Great Game.” Hormuz is treated as one of those peripheral contests — a chokepoint being used as leverage — not as a direct US–China battlefield.
As for Greenland, the map below is from the same article. I said Greenland’s resources are not worth the effort, but the trade routes are. Control of the Panama Canal, the Red Sea, Hormuz, and Greenland are all related.
