While sodium reduction is a proven and cost-effective public health intervention, its impact depends on translating evidence into everyday choices and routine clinical practice.
To strengthen this link, IPE-Centre for Knowledge & Development (CKD), in collaboration with the @IMAIndiaOrg (IMA) and with support from @ResolveTSL, launched the
The national launch brought together government representatives, clinicians, professional associations, academia and public health experts to discuss practical pathways for strengthening physician engagement in sodium reduction and integrating evidence-based counselling into routine clinical care, particularly for the prevention and management of hypertension and cardiovascular disease.
A key milestone was the launch of the ๐๐๐๐ก๐ง๐ข๐๐๐ฅ ๐๐ซ๐๐ข๐ง๐ข๐ง๐ ๐๐จ๐๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ ๐๐จ๐ซ ๐๐๐๐ฅ๐ญ๐ก๐๐๐ซ๐ ๐๐ซ๐๐๐ญ๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐๐ซ๐ฌ ๐จ๐ง ๐๐จ๐๐ข๐ฎ๐ฆ ๐๐๐๐ฎ๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐ฉ๐ฉ๐ซ๐จ๐ฉ๐ซ๐ข๐๐ญ๐ ๐๐ฌ๐ ๐จ๐ ๐๐จ๐ฐ-๐๐จ๐๐ข๐ฎ๐ฆ ๐๐๐ฅ๐ญ ๐๐ฎ๐๐ฌ๐ญ๐ข๐ญ๐ฎ๐ญ๐๐ฌ (๐๐๐), providing physicians with practical, evidence-based guidance to support patient counselling and the appropriate use of LSS.
The launch marks the beginning of a wider capacity-building effort, with physician training webinars and further engagement planned across India - helping move from awareness to action, and from evidence to practice. The vision is to make sodium reduction a routine part of preventive and clinical care - equipping physicians across India to translate evidence into practical action, support healthier dietary choices, and help reduce the long-term burden of hypertension, cardiovascular disease and other NCDs.

The Read the Food Label Campaign is officially underway!
Last week, NAFDAC, in collaboration with development partners, proudly flagged off this important national campaign to encourage Nigerians to develop the habit of reading and understanding food labels before purchasing or consuming packaged food products.
Food labels are more than just information on a package; they are a valuable tool for making informed choices about the food we eat. By taking a moment to read the Nutrition Facts, ingredients, NAFDAC Registration Number, and Best Before or Expiry Date, consumers can make healthier and safer decisions for themselves and their families.
This campaign marks the beginning of a sustained effort to promote nutrition literacy, empower consumers, and foster a culture of informed food choices across Nigeria.

Five years after the @WHO launched the Global Diabetes Compact, the diabetes community gathered in Geneva to take stock of what it has achieved.
On the sidelines of the 79th World Health Assembly, Helmsley joined WHO, @ResolveTSL, World Diabetes Foundation, and @WHOSEARO to reflect on the progress weโve made: first-of-their-kind WHO guidelines for diabetes, integrated care strategies reaching primary health systems across regions, and greater involvement of people living with diabetes in shaping the decisions that affect their care.
@DrTomFrieden, Sanne Frost Helt, @BoehmeCatharina, Bianca Hemmingsen, and James Reid reflected on what five years of global collaboration have made possible โ and on the work ahead.

Today, we joined an emergency meeting convened by the House of Representatives (@HouseNGR) Committee on Healthcare Services to assess Nigeria's preparedness in responding to the #Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda.
For us, health security means sustained and predictable investment in epidemic preparedness, including health workers, risk communication, community engagement and Emergency-Ready Primary Health Care (ERPHC). Public trust requires continuous investment before, during, and after outbreaks. We will continue to monitor developments and amplify the information Nigerians need to stay informed and protected.
