A surgical strike, though you sometimes swap the scalpel for a butter knife. ‘Imbibing’ instead of ‘imbuing’, plus rogue commas, let you down. Skillfully raising your gaze from the operating table, you capture the haemorrhaging of confidence with a standout midwife metaphor. 8/10
After reflection, I have tendered my resignation as a health minister to the Prime Minister. Country first. Always 👇

“his majesty’s government?" It’s His Majesty’s Government. Drop the comma in 'a very, heavy heart'. It’s not a list. It’s not two separate thoughts. “The scale of (...) have been catastrophic.” The scale has. This is as passionate as a parking ticket. Try again 5/10

'I want to start by first saying' is tautology. The tone is passive aggressive, trying not to shout, with the clumsy phrase 'I think you're a good man fundamentally' more suited to a Dear John letter. The penultimate para picks up with a strong rhythm. Needs editing. 7/10

You start by jamming together 3 prepositions 'of', 'back' and 'in' in a spectacularly garbled sentence. 'That is that' sounds odd. There are typos. Eleanor Roosevelt said, 'Do something that scares you every day.' Try reading back your own letters Steeee. 9/20
I have this evening written to the Prime Minister to inform him of my decision to leave government. This was a decision I made several weeks ago and informed the Chief Whip at the time. This is a personal decision I have reached that is right for me, my family and constituents.

Gordon Brown asked by Sky on whether he will do a Cameron-style comeback: “I’m too old to be a British politician and too young to be an American politician.”

Jeremy, your signature leaves a huge impression. The same can't be said of your letter, which is opaque. What are these 'projects in Horsham'? In the second para, the mystery deepens. You've been a Comptroller, a Whip and a Paymaster General. More Wolf Hall than Whitehall. 13/20

Wow! That's made my day. Thank you.
Jesse, you're channelling Truman Capote - 'I believe more in the scissors than I do in the pencil.' A perfectly poised & precise resignation. Your 2nd para is a congerie and hidden at the bottom of this word-pile is your ace card - the vaccine star Kate Bingham. This is 19/20.

The plot thickens. Cloaks & daggers. Stillitz & Gray. You love collocation - ‘dangerous & unsettling’, ‘absurd & unjust’ and ‘bewildered & appalled’. Bewitched, bothered and bewildered are you. (3/4)

Boris, you’ve fired your 1035 word resignation from Africa and it resembles a word safari. From ‘kangaroos’, to’ witches’ you aim fire at your enemies one by one. The tricolon ‘They know’ in your second paragraph tolls like the bells of Big Ben. (1/4)

Sadness is always deep. Don't gild the lily. Tone is a little formal, a touch of the 'royal we'. Good use of commas but needs fewer paragraphs. For top marks, para 6 needs examples. When did you disagree privately but support publicly? 'Kind Regards' is a wet ending. 15/20
The public rightly expect government to be conducted properly, competently and seriously. I recognise this may be my last ministerial job, but I believe these standards are worth fighting for and that is why I am resigning. My letter to the Prime Minister below.

Where do I start? A glut of anachronisms; 'immediate effect', 'oftentimes sad', 'darkest days'. You're only 38 - it's not 1922. Or is it? You say events 'have not sat well with me'. What have you eaten? The isolated '𝐍𝐨' is really odd. 13/20

St Crispin is the Patron saint of shoemakers and you’ve certainly cobbled this together. Top marks for brevity, lovely handwriting & delivery by goose. You end with the literary equivalent of a curtsey, ‘I have the honour to remain et cetera…’ X11 out of XX.

Have we tried heating it to see if there's something written on the giant gap in lemon juice?
Is this a very subtle resignation letter?

My new fav expression is “doubling down on levelling up”. That will work in any prezzo 😂
You start with a predictable tricolon. The anaphora piles the emphasis on 'free'. Stop over-writing; lose 'its embrace of'. Sentence 2 is dreadful. The antithesis of 'doubling down on levelling up' is clownish. Aspiration nation means a breathing nation. WTF is the alternative?
