18th Indian Journalism Festival 2026 Kicks Off in Indore; Focuses on Gen-Z and Honors Media Stalwarts
Indore, October 2, 2026 : The 18th edition of the three-day Indian Journalism Festival 2026 commenced today, Friday, October 2, at the Jaal Sabhagruh in South Tukoganj, Indore. Organized by the State Press Club, Madhya Pradesh, the prestigious national gathering has brought together over 150 prominent journalists, editors, and digital media experts from across the country.
This year’s festival centers around the theme "Gen-Z" and its influence on print, electronic, and digital media. The event pays rich tribute to the "Saptarishis" (seven legendaries) of Hindi journalism: Late Rahul Barpute, Rajendra Mathur, Prabhash Joshi, Manikchandra Vajpayee, Rameshchandra Agarwal, Abhay Chhajlani, and Krishnakumar Ashtana.

The grand opening ceremony featured distinguished guests, J K Maheswori Justice of Supreme Court of India as the Chief Guest alongside Umang Singhar, Leader of the Opposition in the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly, Bijay Manohar Tiwari VC of Makhanlal University, MDH Chairman Rajiv Gulati as a Special Guests. Hoy culmina un duro capítulo mi vida.
El Tribunal 3.º de Primera Instancia en Funciones de Juicio con competencia en materia de terrorismo hace unos minutos ha dictado sentencia absolutoria, declarándome libre de responsabilidad penal respecto de los cargos formulados en mi contra.
Esta decisión ratifica lo que sostuve desde el primer día de mi detención, el 9 de febrero de 2024: soy inocente.
Durante este tiempo fueron puestos a prueba mi capacidad de resistencia y el verdadero peso de mis principios.
Agradezco profundamente a mi familia, especialmente a mi hija, por su amor y fortaleza, a la sociedad civil venezolana, a los organismos internacionales, misiones diplomáticas y organizaciones de derechos humanos que acompañaron mi situación.
Y vaya mi especial reconocimiento por toda su ayuda a @amnistia, @FLDAmericas, @HRF, a mis abogados @theresly, @gonzaleztjuan, Juan Carlos Gutiérrez y Hector Faúndez; así como al presidente José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero.
Hoy recibo esta decisión con gratitud, pero también pensando en quienes todavía esperan justicia.
Mi solidaridad está con todos los ciudadanos, activistas y presos políticos que continúan enfrentando procesos penales y situaciones de vulnerabilidad.

Ante los videos que circulan en redes sociales sobre lo ocurrido anoche en la sala de embarque de vuelos nacionales del Aeropuerto Internacional de Maiquetía, considero necesario aclarar los hechos y desmentir cualquier vinculación que se pretenda establecer entre el señor Alexander Vargas y mi persona.
Me encontraba en la sala de espera, próximo a viajar a Maracaibo, cuando el señor Vargas se acercó corriendo y me pidió ayuda para evitar que funcionarios de la Guardia Nacional Bolivariana se lo llevaran. No lo conozco personalmente y no tengo relación con él ni con sus actividades públicas o políticas.
Durante la intervención de los funcionarios se produjo un forcejeo. El señor Vargas se resistió y se aferró a mí. Pregunté a los efectivos qué ocurría y me indicaron que debía acompañarlos porque, según me dijeron, era solicitado por las autoridades. Su esposa y otros familiares estaban presentes. Tras momentos de tensión, el señor Vargas accedió a acompañar a los funcionarios.
Desconozco lo sucedido después. Espero que se respeten plenamente sus derechos y los de su familia, como corresponde a cualquier ciudadano venezolano.
Mi presencia en esos videos responde únicamente a un encuentro imprevisto mientras esperaba mi vuelo. Cualquier afirmación que sugiera una relación previa o una participación mía en los hechos carece de fundamento.
