September is National Recovery Month, a time to promote awareness of mental health and substance abuse treatment as well as to celebrate those in recovery. I will always work toward promoting community support and access to evidence-based treatment for those battling addiction.

Today we observe Gold Star Mother’s and Family Day, a day to honor the mothers and families of those who have lost their lives in the line of duty. We remember and honor the sacrifice of service members who died in service to the nation and strong resilience of their families.

Veena, my staff, and I had a wonderful time meeting our neighbors in Ben Avon at the Avon Club Fall Festival. Thanks to the organizers, municipal leaders & staff, first responders, vendors, and volunteers for a great event.

Organized labor drives our region forward. I enjoyed joining @TheIronworkers Local No. 3 at their open house to welcome the community to learn more about the opportunities in their union. Thank you for your work to build our future. I’ll continue to support your critical efforts.

There is no better way to enjoy our state’s natural beauty than through the pastimes of hunting and fishing. I wish everyone a safe and enjoyable season.

September is Senior Center Month when we honor the positive impact senior centers have in the lives of older adults in our community. Let us reflect on how vital senior centers are in supporting social connection, creativity, and community engagement.

Our upcoming Emsworth satellite office hours will be held on Oct 5 instead of on Sept 28. There will be no office hours on Oct 12 due to the holiday. Office hours will resume on Oct 26. As always, our office hours will be held at the Borough Building located at 171 Center Ave.

Today is American Business Women’s Day, a day to honor American women’s leadership and economic contributions to the workforce. This is a chance for us to promote professional development for women seeking leadership roles and bring our attention to the gender pay gap.

September 21st is the International Day of Peace. On this day, let us reflect on how we must all work together towards promoting peace at home and abroad.

Today is World Alzheimer’s Day. Millions of families have been affected by this debilitating illness, and I am committed as both a physician and a legislator to doing everything I can to support polices that both address this illness and support our seniors and their families.

Veena and I were happy to attend the Muslim Association of Greater PGH's Interfaith Luncheon. PA was founded on the principle of religious freedom. It's an honor to represent the Muslim community of our area. Thanks for the invitation and being a part of the fabric of our region.

Veena & I had a wonderful time at the Taiwanese Association of America - Pittsburgh Chapter picnic in Franklin Park. I’m privileged to represent a vibrant Taiwanese community in the North Hills. Thank you for your kind invitation & many contributions to our region & Pennsylvania.

Veena & I are naturalized citizens & proud Pittsburghers. Sadly, Pittsburgh has low in-migration & population growth. We therefore support Pittsburgh Tomorrow & were excited to attend the City on the Rise celebration. Thank you for your work to welcome more people to our region.

September 18th is National POW/MIA Recognition Day. I would like to recognize all those who were prisoners of war or went missing in action in the course of their selfless service to our nation. We as a nation have a sacred duty to ensure they are not forgotten.
