Passing the law was only the beginning. I continued fighting for funding and responsible, equitable implementation. Illinois grows food for the world but we must build a system that enables Illinois farmers to feed Illinois families!

I was Chief House Sponsor of SB 3077, which established Illinois’ Local Food Infrastructure Grant Program. It funds storage, processing, refrigeration and distribution infrastructure that helps small farmers reach more families and markets

A law I championed is now delivering more than $3.5 million to 61 local food organizations across 35 Illinois counties. This is what moving policy from paper to farms, food businesses and communities looks like.
