This is as dirty as you can get. The anti-abortion coalition is sending out a last minute mass text to Kansas pro-choice voters blatantly lying about the abortion amendment so they vote the wrong way. Also, they don't identify themselves which is a federal violation. #ksleg

Tuesday Kansans will vote on a constitutional amendment that is identical to one passed in Tennessee in 2014. What happened? Abortion is now banned in Tennessee from the moment of fertilization. The same amendment, pushed by the same people, passed using the same lies. #ksleg

Today I signed an Executive Order to protect the reproductive rights of women in the aftermath of the Supreme Court's extreme decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. It formalizes the actions I announced right after the decision and will add new measures to protect women's health.

Over the last two decades, more school-age children have died from guns than on-duty police officers and active duty military combined. Think about that. For God’s sake how much more carnage are we willing to accept?

For Kansas to continue improving conditions for youth in foster care, codifying the specific rights every child in foster care is entitled to is an important step. It'll help create a foundation for a better child welfare system. Kansas Appleseed supports HB 2468. #ksleg

Remember, if local authorities in Georgia had their way, no one would have ever been charged for the murder of Ahmaud Arbery. It took weeks of protest before charges were even brought in the case, 74 days after Arbery was shot and killed in February 2020.

“If we’re trying to impact the communities that we say we’re trying to, I think we should at least have an opportunity for them to at least say something to us every once in a while.” -@RepFinney on the KS Criminal Justice Reform Commission #ksleg kansasreflector.com/2021/10/…
Kansas Republicans passed a law essentially banning public schools from going online. With covid-19 delta outbreaks, schools are closing entirely because they can’t shift to remote learning. Bad policy passed in the heat of the moment is coming home to roost. #ksleg
We will be temporarily closing all schools and suspending sports practices and other school related events from Aug. 27th to return on Sept. 7th due to COVID outbreaks. Go to USD 353 website for full statement.
