So free cool fan projects only count if humans do all the unpaid labor by hand? The heckin’ tech vegans are pro-slavery and don’t even realize it.

The way forward is for studios to be overtly pro-consumer, giving players what they want. The games that thrive the most will be the ones that understand their unique advantage is deep story, lore, and character development - and that treat multiplayer, community, and native mod support as core rather than optional. If you don't embrace mods, the community will do it for you. Your game needs to be the foundation for something bigger. Shallow, easily cloneable experiences won't make it.
I realized yesterday one of the key ways to stand out in the sea of AI slop (and not slop) coming our way in 2027 is story. I know that sounds really odd. But... when I think about my games, I don't really worry about AI copying them. Or any game being able to "steal" the traffic for the game. I just don't, and I think it's because the games are so story driven, and the story can really only be told by me. It's not that the stories are "genius", it's that they are just.... Thomas's stories. Nobody else can tell them.

Play stupid games and win stupid prizes, man. The activists in the industry now have contempt for everyone that thinks outside of their hivemind and they push agenda/propaganda every chance they can over just focusing on making the best game they can. It's not hard to see why them being laid off is celebrated.
There’s a whole crowd of people eagerly waiting for us game developers to get laid off, just so they can celebrate the downfall. It’s genuinely bizarre behavior.

For a fan film this is 10/10. A feature-length version would print an absurd amount of money… so Hollywood will never greenlight it.

If land and water usage are your real concern, you better start protesting almonds, buckeroo. Hey @grok, give me a quick comparison on land and water usage of almonds vs AI data centers. Which uses the most of each?

Even Debra Wilson herself thinks it's lame that they keep using her face for game characters she does the voice for. It makes no sense for video games to use someone's exact likeness. Games have the ability to be more immersive with unique characters and instead developers are just lazy or chasing clout.
Debra Wilson admitted that using her face for Callisto in "Wolverine" was a mistake But the decision is always up to the developers: "That choice is made by the game designers, not me. I like games where my face is not used." Debra herself believes that if the character is you, it only hinders the immersion into the role.

The funniest thing about this site is that: - Pro-capitalist people are the ones criticizing corporations the most - While pro-communist people are the ones defending corporations the most

This scene looks amazing, but simulations like this are something that veteran VFX artists can easily pull off in Houdini. Might still take a few weeks to nail it perfectly, but it's all doable. A solo artist definitely could have handled it, but I suspect this shot had a simulation specialist and an animator. Not counting models because that was likely a different department.
not seeing a lot of talk for this but they revealed at the GODZILLA MINUS ZERO panel at #nycc that THIS shot? done by only two people. and it included 2 BILLION particles #godzillaminuszero

Hey @fab and @TimSweeneyEpic - I'm not anti-AI, but this mass flood of super low quality AI assets is absolutely ruining the experience of Fab. You desperately need to fix this: 1. Introduce a "Following" feature so we can see a feed and get email notifications from creators we want to see assets from. 2. The Recently Added feed is garbage because everyday low quality AI asset authors flood it with dozens of slop posts. You really need to group those posts together into a collection or something, don't let them take up more than one cell in the Recent feed. The site is seriously becoming unusable, I have to rely on a Chrome plugin right now that allows me to hide assets from specified artists, and I'm adding to that list everyday. Sincerely, A customer that has spent thousands buying assets for my solo indie game on Fab.

This is exactly how I'm using AI currently. I'm not using Gen AI assets in game yet, but I am considering it for background props and such. For example I need dozens of family photos in an abandoned house environment. My options are either: - Use AI with consideration to get consistency and it would take probably less than a single day and usage is included in a $20/mo ChatGPT plan. - Create character models and environments for characters that otherwise are not in the game, pose them, and render the pics. This would either cost me thousands to outsource or take weeks of my development time. - Try to find stock photos of families and Photoshop the faces for consistency. This would cost at least $1,000+ to purchase extended licenses of the photos and have them edited. I could edit the photos myself but that would halt production on other things by maybe a week. - Hire a photographer and models to create photos for me. This would likely be at least $2,500. When I lay it all out like this, it seems foolish to not use gen AI for something that is a background prop, and just there to set the tone and atmosphere.
CAPCOM had a pretty clear message on how they want to use AI in game development: AI is the shield, humans are the spear. AI handles the work that burns people out: checking huge numbers of patterns, validating massive amounts of text, catching inconsistencies, and taking on brute-force verification tasks that don’t scale well with human effort. The goal isn’t to replace developers. It’s to free them from repetitive work so they can spend more time on the parts of games that actually need human judgment: creativity, feel, and emotional impact. Their framing is basically: Human creativity × AI coverage/endurance That’s the model they see as a competitive advantage for next-gen game development. #CAPCOM
